Hi. Give as much detail as possible and send a copy of your medical notes.

I sent mine off the beginning of October so just waiting for an answer, I had to appeal my previous 2.

good luck

Hi i've just joined this site two minutes ago and saw your question first. I recently applied for ESA the application was done over the phone. I have fibromyalgia and sent my first medical certificate off 3 weeks ago. Within a week i was told i was getting my first payment the following tuesday. I was only asked one question as to what was wrong with me. The rest of the questions were just general ones. I couldnt believe how easy it was and how quick i was to get money.

Hello Rachael,

As Sandra mentions at the beginning please email me at info@fibroaction.org and we can send you the Benefits & Work guides for Free.

Like Mazz I have not long sent mine off and I am waiting an answer. Using the form you can download and print I found much easier than writing with painful wrists and easy to correct too. You then have a copy on your PC and when you have finished you can print, sign the declaration by hand & send recorded post.

I hope this has been helpful

All the best

Emma :)

Hi there,

I am sure that with the information Emma has give you, you will find it much easier to fill the forms in, However, if like me, you can't cope with form filling I would recommend that you go to the CAB who are very well versed in how to word the applications to your best benefit.

I wish you well, but would say that you may well be in for a long wait before they process your claim, mine took ages to come through, so don't worry if you don't hear anything for a couple of months. ATOS are incredibly inefficient I find !!

Hi just pace yourself filling the form as it is long I did mine a few days ago and it totally wiped me out, sent it recorded delivery and also sent a copy to DWP and kept all copies for my reference. Just waiting to hear back good luck I hope it all goes well for you :) xx

They usually give you about 3 or 4 weeks to return the form, I type my answers into a word document, noting the page and the question, so I can play around with the answer before writing on the form and making a pigs ear of it. Do a bit each day and you will soon fill the form in. The idea is to always have a permanent record of all your answers in word ready for when the next form arrives and so on, pretty soon you will be an expert.

Use Benefits & Work guide to filling in the form. It takes you through point by point. I used this and was placed in Support Group without needing a medical. Couldn't have done it without this guide. Good luck!

Me too!

I believe in my 15 years experience 'on and off' of filling in the form always state things has on your worse day we have good days and bad days and extremely bad days use the extremely bad days has your guide. Do not forget to mention the side effects of any medications you suffer also any help you need no matter how small it is . Send has much evidence has you possibly can even a pain diary if you have one , doctors appointments , names of all concerned in your case , all hospitals you have visited and for what reason even if it is only once . Take your time with it also keep reading the questions over and over . Also I advice to make a copy of your answers .One last thing state if your condition is getting worse or is worse than it was when it first started this could mean it is progressing and you will need continued referrals to your hospital or doctor .

Hope this helps

Kind regards
