Hi

Our Gardener tells me they are alpaca and they are used as guard animals as they can be quite aggressive and will protect animals in a field against foxes and even humans.

I know I learn something every day and the lesson of today is just because it is cute it does not mean you can give it a cuddle.

Kindest regards

Terry

Hi again

Also, I learnt that their fur is very expensive to buy, so not only do you get a guard animal but you can make money out of it also.

I don't think our Shih-Tzu groomer would take one of those on though.

Kindest regards

Terry

Oh How cute, I have a friend who has alpacas and I can get fleece from her very easily. One of the things I am planning as a winter hobby is to start felt making and Naomi my friend, is going to give me a load of fleece to play with. You can do felting with bubble wrap, water and detergent, or you can do needle felting when you build colours and shapes up on a sort of brush thingy which you lay the fibres on and then attack it with an implement, a rather lethally sharp set of about six needles in a protective case, which you just push up and down on the fibres and they all knit together to create some lovely things. I will try and post a piccie of something I've done, it's not very much but it did keep me occupied during the cold days of March, April and May, before the summer actually kicked in. :-) :-)

Mmmmmmn! I do like being creative this sounds like fun :) I did have a go at college once to make felt and produced some funky samplers :)

Oooooooowww we could hold a virtual felting morning and show each other our products, even more excitement , we could involve all those who want to have a go.........hmmmm another cunning plan for me to get my singular brain cell around :D

:-)
