you must not quit

"When things go wrong as they sometimes will,

When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,

As every one of us sometimes learns,

And many a failure turns about

When he might have won had he stuck it out;

Don't give up though the pace seems slow--

You may succeed with another blow,

Success is failure turned inside out--

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,

And you never can tell how close you are,

It may be near when it seems so far;

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--

It's when things seem worst that you must not quit."

  • Goodness me! How do you know all of that about me? :)

    Obviously just kidding, but oh boy do you hit the nail on the head.

    Your poem is absolutely amazing.

    Thank you. I seriously enjoyed reading it.

    I'm feeling everything you wrote about at the moment and a tiny bit more.

    Would you mind if I copied it so that I can put it somewhere so I can read it when I really truly want to give up?

    I'm so depressed and demotivated right now. It was the anniversary of my late ex husbands death recently and I cant stand watching our children trying not to upset me and vice versa.

    We had been together for 28 years before we divorced.

    My whole body is in agony and I just want to crawl into a hole and stay there.

    You have a superb skill.

    Coz xx

  • Thank you so much Morwenna. I'm sure everyone is sick of my never ending story, but I've been through so much loss, emotionally and financially over the last 3 years. It's especially hard when you don't have a partner to help you with the huge decision making that I've had to make.

    My poor children were 9 & 13 when their daddy died. That was 3 years ago.

    I'm struggling financially, living in over crowded accommodation and the agony that is Fibro :(

    Your poem summed up my life as it is at the moment. And I do want to give up. But I can't because I have my children to take care of.

    Thank you Morwenna for the poem. I'm sure it must have touched others too.

    Thank you for your kind messages. They mean a lot.

I do sometimes feel as though I'm jumping on everyone's band wagon (is that the expression!) but I have about 25 Fibro symptoms which have gone through the roof with all the stress I currently have. I have no family ~ so I look upon all of my lovely Fibro friends on here, as my family xxx
