Hi, yes I get it and sometimes lose the use of my hand...bit scary. My Gp, consultant and chiro just say it's normal nerve problems steming from my neck as I have whiplash as well as the FMS...x

I also have carpel tunnel syndrome as well as fms , that gives you pins and needles in hands , simple test ,put your arms in front of you bend down wrists so hands are pointing to the floor ....... see if you get pins and needles in your fingers ,Allow 1 1/2 minutes........ mine have pins n needles within 20 seconds , you can wear special splints at night to keep wrists straight to hopefully stop it from getting worse .

Thank you for a really useful piece of information. Once again, a condition that needs investigating and not writing off as a symptom of FMS.

Hi Guys..... I too suffer with this annoying symptom. Until starting on Gapapentin my hands would regularly 'die' at night, & wake me from my fit-full sleep. It was so bad I'd have to shake them hard to get the blood to them again, only to have it happen again minutes later....so frustrating. I also take a combined calcium/vit.D tablet daily. It works for me... it's worth a go, you never know!

Gentle hugs to all Annette -x-

Hi Debbie,

Yes it seems that pins & needles is a common sympton of Fibro. I too suffer, I take 900 mg of Gabapentin 3 times a day, if I'm having a bad day or forget to take my meds the pins & needles get to a state that is actually painful. Even trying to rest in bed is out of the question as I can't keep still.

I get frequent muscle spasams also, totally different to pins & needles but still disturbing when you spill black coffee et al all over you.

I found many years ago that I respond very well to Reiki, an alternative therapy from Japan, it won't cure the Fibro. but it can help the symptoms. I got so much halp from the sessions that I studied the therapy and am now a fully qualified and experienced Reiki Master; try to find one in your local area :-)

Keep going, it doesn't have to rule your life.

Thank you thank you thank you. I am so glad glad glad that I am not the only one. I feel as if I am going mad sometimes. Now attending the Mental Health Unit for Bi-Polar disorder. I desperately need sleep.

I have recently visited my doctor and he has told me the pins and needles in my hand is due to carpal tunnel syndrome. He injected my wrist and this has helped quite a bit. I have had fibro for 20 yrs and get regular steroid injections in my hip, shoulder and elbows.

Hiya, i know alot of people with fibromyalgia and pins and needles in the hands and arms is very common most of the time it is Paresthesia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pares... but it can be Neuropathy. It is worth asking your specialist.. I get it in my legs and it can be quite painful i have to have cortizone injections to try and help with the pain.

Hi, I have carpal tunnel syndrome as well as fibromyalgia, ask your doctor to refer you to see a neurologist, he or she will perform a nerve conduction test, this will tell you if you have cts, then you will be able to have if necessary injections in your wrist/wrists, I had this done but didnt really help me, but everyone is different, also I wear wrist splints when sleeping, these do help. I done a little research and have found that in one study, 57% of people with fibro, do also have carpal tunnel syndrome. Hope this helps a little. Take care x

Most people seem to be saying they get pins and needles in wrist and arms. This only happens to me after holding a book or newspaper for a few minutes. It is much more of a problem in my legs when walking when I also get a lot of heavy dull aches in my thighs. A sit down for 10-15mins seems to help.

Really suffer from pins and needles, sometimes it is constant for a few days. I take vitamin D supplement, but have also found that eating an avocado each day sometimes keeps it at bay. Don't ask me why!
