Hi, i am new to this site and this disease. Now being referred to hospital to see a specialist for pain. All my blood tests have come back normal, which is great but then i feel like everything is all in my head. Please can anyone help with their own experiences. Greatly appreciated. Maria

Hi and welcome to the site :)

With fibro your blood tests do come back normal that's means they have ruled out everything else so you end up with the diagnosis of fibro ... Once its confirmed its a matter then of finding the combination of meds that will help manage the pain... Usually an antidepressant .. Not because your GP automatically assumes you are depressed but they help scramble the pain signals in your brain .... Unfortunately the down side is no one drug fits all with fibro so it can be a long process of trial and error to find the right balance that suits you.... But once you have and you have fibro under some degree of control then you will start to feel better ..

If fibro is your only illness gentle exercise and physio does help and hopefully you will be referred to a physio to set up a programme of gentle exercises to help you. Unfortunately there is no cure as yet , but with the right combination of meds you will hopefully manage your fibro quite well

Hi and welcome to the site

The advantage of the site - Health Unlocked is that there are so many different Illnesses and 'Syndromes' that you can't help but find a place for you even if you have various Illnesses and Syndromes there is always somewhere where you can get help and advice.

If you get diagnosed with Fibro but you are having problems with your hands or joints check out arthritis as that could be another place for help and advice.

Anyway welcome and dont forget to get as much use out of the site s you can.

Kindest regards

Terry

Thank you all for welcoming me to your site. My physiotherapist dissmissed me today saying should could not really be of any help. She asked me to try the hydro pool in Peterborough which i have booked a session for next Tuesday. Hopefully when i get seen by the rheumatologist they can give me some more ideas of whats wrong and what needs to be done. Started my period this morning so the pain seems alot worse, you would think i was used to that after 6 years of horrendous monthly's........look out hubby lol!!! Oh and just for a laugh i thought i would tell you that i some how put gravy granules in my mug instead of coffee................this sort of thing happens quite alot now hahahaha. thanx again everyone. maria x
