Some action at last, 10 claimants are challenging the bedroom tax in court. I hope they win.

Me too. I have lived here in my supported living home for 9years and now have to find another home. A real worry is the possibility of having to find a new gp.

Itvseems that the government haven't really thought through the implications of this tax at all. It's something that seemed like a good idea to them at the time. All they're interested in isthe money as we all know.

If only the pm had to live a couple of months on benefits and worry about having to move because of this ill thought out tax would it ever be likely to be changing d.

All of these people who advocate this tax seem to have been brought up in the lap of luxury and have no idea what life is like for ordinary people!

The problem is that £50 - £60 is seen to be small change to these wealthy toffs - they don't realise that to a person living on benefits, it can be the whole of their weekly food budget, and more!

Couldn't agree Moffy!!

Ethnic cleansing at it's most horrid.

I have spoken to people that are about to be turfed out of their homes.

They are devastated to be in this awful position.

They are leaving their family homes, a place where their children have grown up.

A place where they have treasured memories.

And now? All gone in an instant.

My God this government has got a lot to answer for.

Will they or their families ever encounter this fate?

Of course not.

At the end of the day they go home to their ivory towers, blissfully unaware of

How people truly suffer.

They should be ashamed of their selves.

But of course they never will.

The song walk a mile in my shoes comes to mind.

Unfortunately they would claim that they wouldn't fit!!

And why would they?

At last! This was a very poor move on the governments part. And I bet they're all exempt too.

They havnt thought through it atall. By law I will need seperate bedrooms for my 2 kids in 1 year as they are boy an girl an my eldest turns 10. I have already been looking to move in the last year as it is to no avail. There just arnt enough houses so how they expect me to find a 2 bed house for a year an then move again after im entitled to a 3 bed house is rediculas. (Also expecting number 3 in 4 months) but they dont class as a person untill there a year old

This bill, 'bedroom tax' or whatever they want to call it, reminds me how in the Thatcher government when they passed the Poll Tax bill, in which they wanted people on benefits to pay 25% of the total of the bill, they had to U turn on that as people even those who where not on benefits where refusing to pay. The difference was, they didn't discriminate by saying only people on benefits where affected, it was everyone regardless of income, but that too tried to make people on low incomes pay. Also I remember when I rented my first council house in 1976, the water rates and general rates where included. When Poll Tax bill was turned aside, the rates were no longer included so the low incomes ended up paying anyway.

Once again the Tories penalising the poor on low incomes benefits etc. I have rented a council houses, 3 in total, spent loads of cash in keeping them nice, and in good repair this last house I have been resident for 10years, my last 20+ years and the first 3 years, moved due growing family. To now be told We have to move or pay the cash, (paying the cash obviously) and also be told that we couldn't be guaranteed a home in our district, the one in which I was born as was my husband. When were in a position to buy our home sadly Hubs started with ill health then me so no longer in that position.

Also when the water rates and general rates were separated from the rent - the rent never went down :( my husband and daughter both work full time so we have yo pay full rent anyway obviously but if he were to come out of work we would struggle. Then I would move ti the private sector and cost them more! Really doesn't make sense. My current rent is £380 my 2 married daughters in the private sector pay £475 and £575 both had help when between jobs now paying full. My sister who's husband had not had a day out if work for 20 years has a mortgage of £120 per month couldn't get any help at all! None of this makes any sense at all. They'd rather more in the private sector and mess up peoples lives when there are not the properties. Gets off soap box!!

my partner are both disabled and havnt been able to share a room for 4 yrs,if like many other ppl have to pay this bedroom tax or move, who is going to pay to move us ,it doesnt come cheap for a removal van ,then because of disablement have to pay some one to help get you moved in etc, then there is the stress of finding a one bedroom bungalow in the area i want to be in ,it leaves me speachless

If you are both adults, which obviously you are then the tax will not be of consequence to you. We have a 3 bed and 2 girls 14 and 4. I was told that if I put them in the same room i could have an empty one for a carer if they needed to come stay the night and I wouldn't have to pay for the room. So by rights you should be perfectly fine as you are and not need to move home as the rooms are being used by adults.

i have got a person coming out to see me from our housing ass,but at the moment they are charging me,they still say we only need one bedroom ,so i will see how we go from there.

I would also like to add the lovely people I know that are about to lose their homes,

Have experienced a lot of hardship in life.

And now life is being a bit more gentle on them this happens.

How do I know this?

Well I live smack bang in the middle of them.

They have always been decent hard working people.

Some of them are now on benefits through no fault of their own.

What a load bast.... These MPs are!!

I've privately rented our 3 bed bungalow for 7yrs now, we only moved here to be closer to my now ex mother in law for extra support. My landlord is brilliant & knowing my health & financial situation has promised to never put the rent up so now I'm losing money for having a 3rd bedroom & because my rent has been kept so low the 2 bed houses or flats would cost me more per month than this house! Utter madness! I'm caught between the devil & the deep blue sea & I can't afford a house move either. Plus my son has grown up here & really doesn't want to move, he's only 10, so heartbreaking.

Bedroom tax is inhumane and punitive. I really feel for anyone who has to uproot themselves, this is double punishment because moving is a huge expense and when you are ill the suffering is compounded. People are killing themselves over this which is so tragic! I hope it will be withdrawn soon. All the best to those who are having to move, I wish you well and hope you get all the support you can when doing so.

Hugs

I live in a two-bedroom flat i now have to pay £13.14 per week for the spare room as well as £20.00 per month council tax. I live by my self have no oh.What do they care they will not get me out of here unless they find me a nice one- bedroon bungalow in a nice area. couldnt even contemplate trying to pack up this flat at mo not well enough. I was recently put in to support group esa so they give it to us in one hand and take it back with the other i think that they realised that disabled people were winning tribunals and appeals and getting what they were owed so they thought of a way to get it back. I hope this all backfires on David Cammeron. I lost my flat when maggie thatcher was in power bank took it back, me partner (at the time) and daughter had to move in to my mums lost my dad in the october and lost my home in the april. thankyou Tory Government.

sorry rant over my heart goes out to all these people losing there homes best wishes xx

Did you know that they used to tax people on how many windows they had in their house. My Mom told me , that's why you see old houses with windows bricked up. Think it was when my granny was a kid . Mom told me it was in the day when they still had workhouses going. I mean taxing people on how much light you had in your home is kindof unreal but bedroom tax is too. Thing is smallest bedroom is in some homes like a box room or a large cubard all my homes I've lived in have had tiny tiny extra bedrooms one was so small it was only big enough to get a bed and a chest of draws , or a cot and a wardrobe so really not the size of a appropriate bedroom size . There should be measurements put in with this bedroom tax and the whole thing is stupid because having a xstra bedroom should not be a benifit , family members should be able to stay over , some couples can't sleep together for health reasons , disabled people need care during the night. The whole thing is soooo out of order .

Moving a bad enough when your well n ok , but if your disabled or ill, the ex spence and the fact your having to move to a smaller home because of money cuts it's awful. Not to mention having to pay for carpets probably having to decorate another house , it's all crazy , do the government not realise that people who live in a three bedroom house may be paying pretty much the same for a two bed in private ,, crazy

A year ago, after my husband had left and the family home I had lived in for 25 years had to be sold, I had the choice of a homeless hostel or a 2 bedroomed ground floor flat that was perfect for me!! And now, after living here for a year, trying to decorate it and make it 'my own' I now have to pay £14.97 per week to live here!! What was I supposed to do?? Live in a hostel (which would have killed me) or move into a perfect home that would last me the rest of my days?? No brainer really - but now I feel trapped!! I've made my flat my home and the social housing provider I rent from have no 1 bedroomed flats I could move into that are suitable (ie ground floor) so generally speaking, where are all these 1 bedroomed properties were all supposed to move into?? Oh let me think - they don't exist!! Really wish I didn't have to pay for the 'bedroom' tax - but having moved only a year ago - I really could not cope with 'doing it all again'!!!

I am disabled and was privately renting a 2 bedroom house mainly in case i needed a carer and for somewhere for my children I don't have the luxury of having been given a council place or social housing so had to find the money to pay deposits etc. Since my divorce in 2008 i have moved 9 times i have had no help from social housing because there is a long waiting list here in bournemouth because no one is leaving there properties. I am only entitled to 1 bedroom and even when had two beds was only allowed 1 bed allowance my rent was £750 and i was given £444 how is this fair. I had to move had to find deposit etc and moved into 1 bed flat nightmare 3 year old living above me with his mother jumping on the ceiling of my bedroom at all hours so had to move again i now have a 1 bed house which costs me £600 a month i receive £421 a month towards this and am having £160 a month in deductions from benefits for overpayments made how am i supposed to manage i can't afford food or heating have a large gas bill outstanding from previous address tried to borrow money from welfare of the local council and they never even replied to my application which was done on line as it was said to be quicker i telephoned them was told someone would get back to me nothing emailed twice nothing had to borrow £1400 now have to find a way of paying that back. Now i understand that some people have lived in there homes for years and don't want to move because of memories etc but how is it fair for them to keep a bigger house and have the rent paid when i can't even get a home that is cheap enough for me to pay for and for the last three years i have only been entitled to rent for 1 bedroom even though i had two please tell me why its different for one it should be the same for everyone surely as that makes it a fairer society. When i was married my husband had crohns disease he had all his large bowel and rectum removed we have 4 children to feed, clothe and house and my husband had never had time off sick until this disease put him in hospital for a number of months and when we put a claim in my money was deducted from what he was entitled to and it took us 8 months to get 80 pence which came in a cheque. All because we had a mortgage but couldn't get insurance as he was diagnosed with crohns so the insurance was invalidated and he had changed his job within the last year so wasn't entitled to sick pay. I have had fybromyalgia for over 20 years my life is hell and each year just when i think nothing can get worse it does.

I wonder if they do a u turn, "will we get our money back that we have been robbed of? I put in a claim for discretionary payment weeks ago, not heard a thing!!!

I started back at work 3 weeks ago and hey presto!!! within 2 days of signing off I get a letter through from council telling me my housing benefit has ended!!!
