Three failed attempts of ivf means we can now only afford 1 maybe 2 cycles of iui, but my husband has a low sperm count and low mobility and I have read that iui is not a good option in this senecio. Does anyone have any prior experience of iui? Did it work? Is ist something we should discount?

Is it worth trying iui?
Age does have a bearing on infertility treatment results, so if you are under 35yrs of age, then it might be worth a try, although success rates are generally lower than with IVF. Regarding your husband’s sperm count, it would be worth asking whether his sperm could be collected and stored frozen prior to IUI use, as you need large numbers in able to perform IUI successfully. If you have a look at our website infertilitynetworkuk.com you will be able to see further information about sperm count and artificial insemination. You will be able to see how we can support you too at this time.

Hi, what is your consultant suggesting? Ofter after IVF, given they will know much more about you as a couple, is this something that they suggested. For us, when we reached that stage of 3 IVF/ICSI rounds, the consultant put 4 options on the table for us to consider, IUI wasn't one of them.
I had the IUI procedure because they couldn't get the egg. Unfortunately the test was negative. I was 42 at the time. The clinic said because of my age the quality of my eggs wasn't good. I am now going for egg donation and have been given a 60% success rate if I went for another round of IVF I only had 2% success rate. Good luck
