lining thickness and progesterone

Hi all,

Had my baseline scan on Friday to measure my lining on day 12 - it was 7mm. Will my lining continue to thicken whilst taking my progesterone pessaries? I was slightly disappointed at the thickness as have upped my oestrogen dosage from my last 2 transfers so expected it to be thicker. My clinics baseline is 7mm so they say I’m good to start my progesterone.

Hoping it will continue to thicken up and have asked for another scan pre transfer to check but wondered whether it will now stall after starting my progesterone pessaries?

thanks x

yes progesterone thickens the lining

Mine was also 7mm when told to start progesterone and never checked again ahead of transfer, which was successful.Progesterone makes the lining ticker btw. On the day of the transfer all looked good to go, I'd say trust the process! Did you have a specific number in mind and if yes why don't you ask the clinic to get reassurance ?Wishing you a successful process and sending positive vibes💐

Studies show that for FET there is no added benefit in ongoing clinical pregnancy and live birth rates in having the lining thicker than 7mm so your clinic are right. There is added benefit in every mm up to 7mm. Another scan isn’t going to tell you much as all the studies on how thick lining should be are done on the day of trigger for fresh and day of progesterone start for FET. Progesterone does naturally thicken the lining too but it can start to look different and be more difficult to measure accurately.

Yes it thickenn but not so much. I had last time 6.5 mm and it thickened to 7.4 mm. I read some studies about the success rate above 8.5 mm is higher and I was not sure and I cancelled my cycle. I know my lining can be much more better.

Just for reassurance my lining never got beyond 6.3mm and I conceived twice. One of the times my lining was no more than around 5.5mm. Also as soon as you start progesterone the lining changes and it doesn’t provide an accurate indication of whether the lining has thickened. It’s not easy to measure. 7mm is great. I was told by my consultant they only aim for 5mm lining when donor egg conceived embryos are used. I wish you the best of luck. I fixated on my thin lining for so long and tried everything yet my thin lining didn’t stop me getting pregnant. I have a two year old boy from one of those pregnancies. I wish you the best of luck. X
