does anyone’s clinic in UK do egg collections and PGTA biopsy at weekends? Our clinic putting in so many rules about when can start because of timing on weekend and also just feel trigger time might be chosen to suit them rather than what’s going on with my stim

Hi dear

yes my clinic does egg collection and PGT both on weekends, they did PGT on Saturday and gave me updates on Sunday regarding the remaining embryos.

I’ve had an egg collection on a weekend - a Saturday - because that’s when the eggs were ready to come out. It did make recovery a lot easier - as I always end up with some mild OHSS symptoms.

Both the clinics I use have weekend cover though they try to avoid if possible as they can only do so many that fall at that time, but of course it’s not always possible. The embryologists also work on weekends - there’s always someone on shift on a Sunday.

PGTA biopsy is just taken whenever the blast is ready for it - if that’s a Sunday - then someone manning the lab can take the sample is the impression I’ve been given. Have definitely had embryo progress update calls on a Sunday.

No egg collections on the weekend at my clinic (they do transfers at weekend but not collections as they don’t have the anethitist and recovery team etc in the hospital think they are emergency only in hospitals at weekends). Never been an issue I can still trigger at the weekends for collection Mondays if needed. X

Hello,I felt this with my clinic too. I've had 4 rounds and the egg collections were always planned for a Friday. It didn't make sense to me, how could it be that much of a coincidence that I was always "ready" on a Friday. After my 4th round when it was clear the eggs collected weren't mature enough to fertilise yet, my Dr said "hindsight is a great thing" and agreed they should have stimmed me for longer. My clinic also don't do transfers at the weekend so I had a cancelled FET as the transfer day fell on a Sunday (and got charged for it). Needless to say, we're moving clinics. Wishing you lots of luck.

That’s so awful that you got charged for cancelled FET because it fell on day they didn’t do FETs 😱😡. Glad you’re moving!

We chose the clinic because they said 7 day working but turns out that is for ETs and some scans but not ECs. However because I need to use modified natural cycle (my lining non existent in medicated) the fact they do transfer 7 days a week is valuable to us. I had a transfer cancelled though at previous clinic because would have fallen on Sunday - I wasn’t charged though (besides lost meds cost).

Best of luck at a new clinic xx
