I had a fresh embryo transfer 8 days ago. Yesterday there was some brown discharge when I wiped and today after going to the loo there was a small amount of blood on my tissue when I wiped. It wasn't very dark and thick, more of a light red. It's not enough to show up on a pad or my underwear.
I know it could be implantation bleeding but everything I've read says that occurs 3 to 5 days after transfer so this seems a bit late?
I'm wondering if it's a side effect of progesterone pessaries but I have been taking those rectally.
Many thanks 😊

Any bleeding in the tww is terrifying. I had spotting and some fresh light bleeding from 3dp5dt all the way to test day. I was convinced it hadn't worked but it did and turns out I had a haematoma which caused some more bleeding as the pregnancy progressed. Not sure if this bleeding was from this or implantation. I know the pessaries can cause irritation on the cervix when taken vaginally but if your taking rectally then this would stop that.
It could be implantation and taking a while to trickle out.
Yeah I think my biggest worry was whether it was my natural cycle trying to emerge but being suppressed by the progesterone as I've been having twinges and tugs but also an ache almost like my period is due.
Testing the day after tomorrow and no bleeding today so I will just have to wait to test and see how it goes. Could be so many things at this point!
It could be so many things, I always felt like my period was starting on both my successful cycles so it could be a good sign. All the symptoms are so similar it's torture! Good luck 🤞🏼
I had a FET and 8 days later had a spot of very light blood when I wiped, like watercolour paint thickness and brown maybe barely pink in colour. I also had a very mild lower back ache for a little while that day.
I felt worried because I also thought it couldn't be an implantation bleed so late after a transfer, especially with my transferred embryos being a day 5 blastocyst and a day 6 hatching blastocyst, so essentially ready to implant the day they were transferred, not 8 days later. I have also literally never had spotting during my cycle ever in the entire time I have had my period, not even as a teenager, so it was not normal for my body to do that outside of my period starting. The only time I've had light blood has been sometimes the day before my period, if the flow is a little slow starting properly.
I called the nurses at my clinic, worried that maybe an embryo had implanted and it was starting to detach, or that my period was coming through early. They said it may be implantation bleeding, even that late (although I still doubt this with the stage of the blastocysts that went in) or that it might just be from "things moving around in there"... the nurses said that sometimes from the changes in the uterus, a little capillary bursts, so you may get a tiny bit of blood, but it doesn't have any impact on the pregnancy, and some women will even get these bleeds occasionally during later stages of pregnancy and continue to have perfectly health pregnancies.
There are so many early hormone changes, changes to the blood vessels with increased dilation and blood flow to the uterus, and movement of the uterus itself.
Of course, I was still worried and dreading the worst, especially as I also started getting an ache like the precursor to period cramping. However, on the day of my blood test to check if I was pregnant or not, I received my first ever BFP from a transfer!
Hello, yes you had the same concerns as me pretty much. I also feel aches and lots of twinges and sharp little pains on my left side so I'm scared too that my period is trying to come through.
I guess no way of knowing until I test which I'll do the day after tomorrow. Atleast I know from your response that there is still a chance it might have worked.
I had bleeding I was convinced was the start of my period 2/3 days before my test day. My daughter is now 4 months old from that one and only successful transfer. Everything crossed for you x
Hey it’s always so scary to see the blood I really feel for you 😢 what does a test say? Any sign of a line yet as there would likely be something at this stage especially with a fresh transfer. That’s really the only way to know lovely. I’ve had bleeding be a period, be irratation from pessaries, be implantation, be a miscarriage and also be a SCH with successful pregnancy so it really can be so many things and they defo don’t all mean that it hasnt worked! Fingers crossed for you xx
Haven't tested yet, I've been told to test on Wednesday and so am sticking to that as don't want to have any uncertainty or disappointment as I had a chemical pregnancy last year. X
