2 transfers = 2 miscarriages

Hi all I’ve had 2 transfers (fresh in sept and frozen in feb) . Both positive results but both ending in miscarriage (just found out HCG levels today for frozen and to stop all meds).

I’m absolutely gutted but thinking ahead as we have consultant review on Friday and time is not on my side.

Can anyone share success stories of being successful on their 3rd attempt?

Also for the review appointment what sort of things should I be asking? I’m going to get questions ready by Friday but anything anyone can share would be most appreciated.

I’m thinking of pgt testing my remaining two embryos has anyone done this with frozen embryos?

Thanks 🤍

Hi so sorry to hear about your losses. Couldn't read and not reply. After a ciuple of failed attempts we did 2 egg collections back to back and then we tested all the embryos at once so they were frozen and then taken out for testing and then re frozen. I've seen that some clinics don't recommend this but ours says there is no problem with it. From those 2 collections 50% of those embryos were euploid. Obviously there is no guarantee that these will stick but if I were you I would test and then this gives you more information. It sounds like your lining is good as you've implanted both times so I would say it is a problem with the embryos and worth asking about testing. Good luck with your appointment x

Thanks for replying.

Did everything go ok with testing the frozen embryos?

Yeah I think I want to do that now I’ve had some time to think.

Thanks for sharing x

So we haven't transferred any of the embryos yet. My first fet was cancelled due to poor lining growth and I'm working towards my next fet now so fingers crossed. Good luck with your appointment and I would definitely test to save yourself as much heartbreak as you can. X

Hey i just meant did the procedure go ok with thawing/testing/re freezing embryos ? We’ve decided we’re going for it after the appointment as consultant doesn’t have any concerns with me xx

Hi, sorry, yes everything went absolutely fine with checking the frozen embryos, we didn't lose any in the process. Good luck! Xx

Hi, I had success on my 5th transfer if that's any consolation.

My story was slightly different though, I had 4 failed transfers, all non tested. I then did a fresh batch decided to do PGTA and the first of them worked! Still no idea why!

Since yours are implanting but ending in early miscarriage it sounds like it could be a genetic issue. Depending on funds I would either test the 2 you have or do another collection and test the new ones plus your frozen ones at the same time.

There is no guarantee even after testing them but it might help future heartbreak transferring embryos that won't work.

Hey you’re 100% right I think I would rather know before doing the transfers again and save even more money and heartache.

I was almost 39 when my eggs collected so I’m no spring chicken but all my of blasts were graded A. Just shows you that doesn’t mean that much though or at least not in my case.

Congratulations I’m glad it al worked out for you x

I was similar. Almost 37 when collected. 3 grade A, 1 grade B. Wasn't even told about PGTA until my third failure but was told it was more for over 40s so didn't do it. Then I moved clinic, they recommended PGTA for over 35s and I was 38 by then so I did it. 4/6 of the new batch were normal so doesn't explain my previous failure but it did make me feel better trying again knowing the chances were higher.
