Did anyone have their progesterone levels tested in a fresh cycle? With FET Iā€™ve always had a blood test to check but is it different fresh?

Had egg collection this week and hoping we get to transfer next week (our results were pretty disappointing so very anxious that we might not even get there).

But if we do šŸ¤ž how can they be sure my progesterone levels are good enough to support the embryo? Iā€™m taking 2 pessaries and a lubion injection so maybe theyā€™re just thinking my levels will be ok? But is it normal not to check and do a blood test pre-transfer?

Thanks all :-)

hi, I had to check back in my diary as I couldnā€™t remember but I think you are right that they donā€™t check progesterone for a fresh transfer. I canā€™t see that I had that done. I had 4 fresh and 3 frozen, but I only remember progesterone bloods for the frozen ones.

For my successful fresh, I was also on pessaries and lubion like you and it seemed to help, good luck xx wishing you all the best xx

Thank you for your answer and well wishes! Trying to be hopeful but itā€™s such an anxious wait, trying hard to distract myself this weekend.

I guess you must make some progesterone naturally in a fresh cycle so itā€™s not needed. But in frozen cycles thereā€™s none. I guess that makes sense, think my brains just in overdrive! Xx

Hi,

My clinic didnā€™t test my progesterone during my fresh transfer which ended in a chemical pregnancy. When I had my FET I requested they test it as I just had a feeling and lo and behold it was really low! I always wonder if thatā€™s why the fresh transfer failed.

Two pessaries and lubion does seem like plenty but I would just request they do a blood test to check. No harm in being sure!

Good luck xx

hello, I had one fresh cycle on the NHS and they didnā€™t check my progesterone before transfer and then one fresh and one frozen transfer privately and they checked my progesterone for both on the day of transfer. Xx

For my last fresh transfer, I pushed to have extra progesterone support (pessaries, an oral tablet, and an injection every few days) and to have a blood test the day before transfer and a few days after. In my previous cycle, my period started just five days into the two-week wait, so this approach ensured my progesterone levels were adequate and helped me manage my anxiety. Advocate for what will make you feel more at ease. Best of luck!

My clinic did check my progesterone on the morning of the transfer (not before). They rang later in the evening to say it was a bit low and I needed to take lubion injection straight away!

I just had a FET and had no bloods prior. Its never been mentioned. Potentially my bloods during investigations were ok?? So there was no need??

Iā€™ve never had a fresh transfer but if I did Iā€™d definitely push for a progesterone test, at the very least on the day of transfer. There is too much at stake to rely on ā€œit should be okā€ and there are lots of women who need extra progesterone support.
