Happy V'day to here all lovely people whose support really helps in this roller coaster journey.
I have had a consultation with my doctor, he is suggesting one embryo transfer at my age, though my friends in different countries had two three embryos transferred and had success and some had twins too. I can see my doctor's point of view to one transfer at a time which has less risk, but I have four embryos and not that much strength to go through this four times to exhaust all frozen embryos.
I understand with two embryo transfer there is a slight risk but success is most important to me. I think I can manage the risk with getting positive outcome. But can't go till 45-46 and keep trying !
My doctor needs answer by Monday morning, what would be your advice please?
Have a great weekend.

If you would be happy to have twins then go for it
I was the same, had 4 embryos at 43.5 but I only transferred them one at a time as you just don’t know and my partner and I were not up for a twin pregnancy.
It was extra money and more time however another factor I think I felt was that each time you transfer your body is different and just maybe I could potentially wasting an embryo if it wasn’t the right environment for them to implant. at that time.
That’s just the way I thought about it but it’s such a personal decision
hey I felt the same and was doing double transfers but I kept having chemicals or miscarriages and my consultant pointed me to some research that suggested that if you had a good quality embryo it could be affected of an abnormal one was transferred at the same time in terms of implantation and pregnancy progression so I tried a single one instead and I’m now 37weeks pregnant at 42. It might also just have been luck and that was the lucky embryo that was always gonna work whether I did or double transfers! So maybe if you have 2 embryos of similar quality you could try those together but do a couple of single ones too? For both my son and current pregnancy it was a single fully medicated FET transfer that worked for me after lots of BFNs and double transfers miscarriages so I might be slightly bias towards that method now but I do t think there is a right or wrong answer. I would t worry too much about risk of multiples as at over 40 the risk when transferring 2 is negligible (my consultant told me this) due to the odds of us getting a good quality embryo and then both implanting being lower, never mind 2 at once! But it can of course still happen xx
Yeah sometimes if it starts feeling like an itch you need to scratch I’d say try the 2 or you will have ‘what ifs’ that’s why I did it, even though I went back to doing single transfers again at least I could say I tried it xx
It’s personal choice and it seems that various clinics have a different ethos. My clinic was suggesting two because I was 43-44 and felt my egg quality was greatly affected. I would have an increased chance of getting pregnant.
Yes with own eggs I tried two transfer didn’t success so this time the fronzen embryo cycle is with donar eggs. First transfer was single embryo and didn’t work. I am already 44 years 2 months old now
Ahh ok, I had the same dilemma with donor eggs last year and my previous clinic asked if I wanted to transfer two to increase chances. I’m personally on a solo journey so the thought of having twins on my own scared me so I said just one. I think if you are ok with the possibility of having two (not sure about probability) then go for it.
If I was your age and had previous failed cycles I'd probably go for 2. It is a really difficult decision though. I was personally advised against it when I suggested it, due to my younger age. They'd only consider it if the embryo quality wasn't great. Good luck x
I transferred two but these were created at 40. If you are over 42, the chance of having twins is very low. I had both implant but one did not survive after 8 weeks. It’s up to you. I had a single transfer at 38 and it didn’t implant. I then only had double transfers thereafter.
I have had consultation with my doctor and the second opinion from my other doctor too, they both have suggested there is a lot of risk involved to do the double embryo transfer including Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, risk to fetus, digestive and kidney issues...
They suggested if it was your eggs age above 40 then they could take risk to do dual transfer but in my case it was with donar eggs so will go with one at a time.
