Decapeptyl to reduce endometrioma

Hi all, wondering if anyone has any experience taking decapeptyl to try and reduce/shrink an endometrioma?

I’m trying to start my third cycle but a recently discovered endometrioma in my left ovary is holding us up. I took a one month injection of decapeptyl which, 6 weeks on is giving me all the side effects but no change to the endometrioma so far. I know people using it to treat endometriosis are often given a 3 month injection so it can take a while to take effect. I’m taking a second month injection this week, which was a tough decision, given how difficult I find the side effects but I really want to give it everything.

Wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences?

Hi LewisLongbody. I would have thought that if the endometrioma doesnt start to shrink, they may want to remove it, as theycan be stubborn and delay IVF further. Hope all either settles down or gets sorted for you. Diane

Thanks Diane, I have an appointment with a surgeon in early Nov about a laparoscopy to remove it, but my consultant is keen for me to do the round first as she says surgery can often cause scarring of the tissue which means that ovary wont produce follicles again after surgery. So she’s hoping the decapeptyl will reduce the cyst to allow us to get some eggs from that side. Hopefully it will start to have that effect, thanks for your reply

I used Decapeptyl before my embryo transfer. I refused to have MRI scan to check whether I have adenomyosis so my doctor decided to put me on this injections just in case. We been successful that cycle are we are now pregnant 😁❤️ I remember also having weird side effects, I couldn't sleep during the night ... but probably worth to try, probably there is no harm in it. Good luck 🤞♥️
