We've been on this rollercoaster for the last couple of years - one miscarriage and two embryos which didn't implant. We'll be doing our last FET in the new year and what will be will be. Neither of us could cope with getting on the rollercoaster again if it doesn't work.
The lady I see for acupuncture mentioned getting cell tests to "rule it out" and pointed me in the direction of RIC. My clinic don't offer any of these tests as they believe the research isn't conclusive. My Dr urged me not to waste money on it!
Just wondered if many of you have had any of these tests and what impact it had on your treatment.
Thanks,
Lou

I had 5 failed transfers, did an ERA test, PGT-A testing, increased progesterone / blood thinners - everything I could throw at it.
I actually saw a podcast about high NK cells affecting implantation so asked my consultant - she said the same; that there isn't much research to show it helps, but I also saw so many people on here who had success after taking steroids.
I had my NK cells tested and they were super high, giving the impression that my immune system was rejecting every single embryo.
For my 6th transfer I was on 20mg prednisolone and it worked. He's now nearly 3.
Honestly it's such a minefield - but I am convinced that this was the key for us. We tried everything else and this was the only variable that we hadn't tried when it worked - so I really do think it made a difference.
My clinic did the blood test for me - you can go to specific immunologists but your clinic should offer an immune panel blood test. You can have a uterine one too but my consultant said there wasn't much difference and that the bloods were much quicker and easier.
Aw yes, I am excited - he's honestly such a miracle boy xx
Hi. One thing you could mention to your consultant is checking your Fallopian tubes for blockage, as many believe that leakage from blocked tubes into the womb might prevent a developing embryo from implanting. Apologies if they are ok. Keep plenty of support around you both and all the best next time. Diane
I had my uterine natural killer cells tested at the Warwick University and Coventry hospital clinic run by Tommy's, by Dr Brosens. For me it was a total game changer. Before testing I'd had 5 failed transfers of 7 embryos (either failed to implant or early chemical), first transfer after testing, now with steroids (and the scratch) is now 2 and asleep next to me. It's so hard to know what will make the difference, but for me this absolutely did, I'd definitely recommend looking in to it. All the best of luck.
Firstly I wanted to say I'm so sorry for what you are going through, it truly is pants!
After 3 miscarriages and 2 failed transfers I decided to get tested through Tommy's trust and it came back high. took the steroids and we now have a 2 year old. I would recommend it even if its for piece of mind knowing that you did everything you could or you could ask your clinic if they would give you the steroids this time round (some will, mind wouldn't and I have to get mind through my GP by a letter from Tommy's Trust)
I agree with Millbank it is such a minefield knowing what to do for the best and you feel like you have to do your own research. It was my acupuncturist that suggested it to me too.
hi, due to have my 4th FET next week. I have done loads of tests before this transfer (my last one was in April!) including killer cells. I do have raised levels, I have been put on a different steroids to what my old clinic put me on ‘just in case’ and yesterday I had my 1st intralipid drip too! I would definitely push to have the test done, it’s only a blood test!
I have also had the era, Emma and Alice tests done which showed high levels of a bad bacteria, both me and my husband had to take strong antibiotics to clear this and I’ve been taking a high does of probiotics too and now we are Praying for a Christmas miracle ❤️⭐️
We've had a similar IVF path, one missed miscarriage and then two didn't implant. I did the LADs and Chicago Bloods testing and came back with low LADs levels and high NKs. I'm being treated for both and will be on intralipids for transfer (and after if successful). I obviously can't advise yet if it will all help, but I'm glad to have tested finally and to have a plan going forward. Also transferring early in the new year. wishing you lots of luck! 💜
hiya, I had the blood tests for NK cells and came back slightly elevated. My consultant doesn’t believe in using steroids unless absolutely indicated, and the clinic doesn’t do ivig (both of those treatments would be more for someone with really elevated levels anyway) so I had two courses of intralipids.
We did this because we wanted to throw everything at this round and it’s hard to say if that’s the reason I got pregnant because the clinic also changed many other things (I had a d&c to remove endometrial hyperplasia the month before our transfer, took probiotics for a confirmed dodgy uterine microbiome, had a GCSF infusion AND had specialist acupuncture). What I will say is doing everything available this round made me feel no stone had been left unturned and it helped me a bit mentally, BUT I think that’s because I was in a very bad place with it all after the struggle of the last few years.
The jury really is out on NK cells it seems, but Warwick have done a lot of research on it and I believe can also do testing and treatment there.
I’m not sure if they’re currently offering testing of the uterine environment through uterine biospsy or global environment through blood test (again, the jury is out on which form of testing is best!), but I think they would be a good place to get more info xx.
