IVF Egg Collection day had 3 follicles, but no eggs!

Hi. Last week I went for my egg collection, there were only 3 follicles growing even though I was on meriofert 450 IU and 0.2 ml Leuprorelin daily (last day ran out so they gave me Buserellin ). This is supposed to be a relatively higher dose, but I don’t know why I didn’t get many follicles growing except 3. And at egg retrieval the docs came back saying that they didn’t get any eggs as they were all empty follicles. I’m devastated and don’t know what to do. Has anyone experienced this situation and what dose of medication did they take for success or what protocol? Or has anyone had recurrent empty follicles in cycles? Even if a few of them were empty? I’m devastated. As no eggs !

I also took a hcg injection 10,000 iu and took it correctly. I was on the short protocol antagonistic

Hi Turtlebug, I’ve done 4 cycles of which one failed( natural). The others were all short protocols on 375IU Pergoveris or 375IU Menopur. I have quite a low AMH and high FSH so for the first 2 cycles I had no more then 3-5 follicles of which we had 1 egg the first time and 2 the second time. Third cycle I had a record number of 9 follicles but only 3 had eggs so in my experience every cycle is different. Given my history of 4 miscarriages ( natural) we PGT-A tested all embryos and only had one Euploid and one mosaic in the freezer. I’m currently 15 weeks pregnant with the euploid from my second cycle. How many cycles did you have? Maybe just need to do more if you can, and your body might react differently to the same protocol. I wish you lots of strength xxx

Hey, I had the same trying last week. I have a very low amh and only had one ovary responding and only one dominant follicle. The consultant decided due to my amh we would go for it and same they didn’t get any eggs. I’m feeling so sad about it as I was so hopeful - as I kept telling myself only takes one egg.

I was on 2 x 150iu merifort and 1 x Ganirelix a day. I’ve got a review appointment booked but they couldn’t get me in till mid November, so feel back on the waiting game again.

This was our first round so I’m hoping maybe change of protocol or drugs used might have a different outcome. I’ve read other things online of people having empty follicles but successful getting eggs next time.

I’m sorry I’m not sharing a useful stories but I really do empathise with you and it’s so heartbreaking when you have all that hope. If you want to DM to chat about it feel free. Xx

Oh girl I am so sorry! I had with AMH 0.8 from 5 follicules 2 eggs. I had much more lesa doses as you. I think 225-300. To high doses are not recommended at all what I know due to decreasing quality. Second time a changed the clinic and I had from 8 follicules 8 eggs and 1 was unmature. This time they changed from short protocol to long protocol and it worked very well. I assume you have a low AMH and that is why they give you so high doses. If it is the case than a minimal stimulation can be an option for you.
