Had another scan today and have been told I only have two follicles that are at a decent size despite my meds having been upped several times over last few days. They’re confused as to why this is as my BMI and ovarian reserve are ok. They said options were to continue with injections and see how things go in hope that two follicles continue to grow and others might catch up then egg collection on Monday. Or to cancel this cycle and start again on a higher dose.
Spoke to my husband and we decided to continue with the injections - I’ll have another scan on Friday and make final decision about whether to go ahead with this cycle.
Has anyone had a similar experience? I’m quite reluctant to cancel the whole cycle but maybe it’d be better given low number of follicles? But it only takes one good egg and I’m not getting any younger and there’s no guarantee my body would respond differently on a higher dose from the start of another round...
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Hope you’re all doing ok x

I would do as you are doing and then go ahead with collection. Fingers crossed for a different result on Friday x
Are you self funded or nhs? If nhs Would be worth finding out if it would count as a round if you cancel, and if not maybe cancelling would be best? Or if you’re private it might just be a small penalty to still start the round another time? But if you would lose out anyway, then best to go ahead!x
Hello, thanks for your reply. They’ve been upping my dose gradually over time but I have polycystic ovaries and a high ovarian reserve so they were worried about over stimulation. The two follicles I have of a decent size don’t need to grow too much more so they don’t want to up the dose too much otherwise those two may not be ok to collect either, if that makes any sense...?!
Just keeping fingers crossed that the two I have grow that little bit more and some of the others have a boost, will have to see what happens and make final decision tomorrow.
Hey I over stimulated on my first round of ivf and they cancelled it. 2nd round I understimulated but had two follicles. As we had had the first round cancelled we decided to go ahead and we got two eggs, 1 fertilised but it didn’t impact! 🤷🏻♀️ Chemical pregnancy.
I kind of wish I hadn’t went through the heart ache with such low chances at my age 42. We are now going through round 3!
I wish you every success in whatever you decide to do, like u said and I said all you need is one good egg, mine wasn’t but yours might be! Best of luck x🙏
Thanks so much for sharing your experience and I’m sorry to hear of your chemical pregnancy 😞 I really hope this round is your time 😃 We’ve decided to go ahead with egg collection on Monday so just keeping fingers crossed x
So, I have two big follicles (2x17mm), 15, 13 and two smaller ones. I’m taking injections tomorrow and on Sunday morning and booster on Sunday night so egg collection on Tuesday. I was hoping that there will be more than two big ones but still think that they will be our lucky ones Endometrium is 11,4mm and Estradiol from Wednesday was 2300 which is not bad I think. How are you?? I hope your scan went well x
Hi, lovely to hear from you 😃 Sounds like all is looking good for you, great news! I also have two big follicles, one 12mm and several smaller ones. Nurse seemed to think we should go ahead with egg collection as there’s a chance of eggs in the bigger follicles plus maybe in the 12mm one if it grows between now and Monday. Took last Gonal-F tonight, it’ll be trigger tomorrow and collection on Monday. All getting a bit real now...! How are you feeling about it all?! X
How are you feeling after your trigger? I’m doing mine tonight and EC on Tuesday morning!! I’m soooo excited! Can you tell me how many hours before EC you need to fast from food and drinks? X
Feeling fine after the trigger thanks! Was nice not to have any injections today after having had two each day for some time now! We have to be at the clinic for 7.15am tomorrow and I think things will start happening around 8.00am. I’ve been told not to eat after midnight tonight and not to drink after 5.30am. Guess it varies from when in the day the collection is? Have your clinic given you info about what to do? X
Thanks so much. Trying to stay positive whilst also being realistic as my body didn’t respond as they had hoped, but even if this cycle isn’t successful there’s still hope as they will be able to make changes to my treatment next time. Hope you’re still doing ok! X
They got four eggs 😃 Fingers crossed at least one of them fertilises... They’ll call us tomorrow about how things are going. Planning on a lazy rest of the day! How did your trigger go? Are you managing to contain your excitement before tomorrow?! X
Great news! What time did they start your EC if you had to be there @ 7:15? I’m still very excited but a little bit stressed too.. Trigger was easy as all gonal injections. Don’t have any side effects really. Did you feel bloated during stimulation? I don’t really feel my ovary at all thinking that there might be no eggs anymore haha
The EC started about 8.15 I guess. Before that I got my gown on, had a tablet (nurse said this was to relax me) and pessary for pain relief. Nurse talked us through what was going to happen. Then anaesthetic came to talk to us. I hadn’t felt bloated either and was worried that meant no eggs/I’d ovulated early or something but all turned out ok! Am keeping my fingers crossed for you tomorrow, let me know how it goes 😃 x
