I am due my BLS (basic life support training) at work but I am also due to start IVF treatment with a donor egg soon. Does anyone know if I am over thinking this or should I not be doing this? Thanks

Worried around Training at work.

Hi Cheeky
I am a medic so regularly do BLS.
Usually BLS is a half day course where you undertake theory, practice basic chest compressions and learn to use the defibrillator. They may want you to demeonstrate you can do a chest compression but it is on a dummy so minimal effort required. You could possibly even opt out of this depending on the course instructor. I can’t imagine it would be a problem with your treatment.
Hi. Have a look at our website where there is a whole section on Fertility In The Workplace. It’s got loads for you to see . Good luck. Diane
When I was in this situation. I told them that I had a bad back and so only had to demonstrate the chest compressions without putting the effort in if that makes sense.
I've also used the bad back excuse at work so I didn't have to carry a load of boxes 👍It works well to avoid any kind of strenuous activity.
And I hope this wont be necessary for you but when I had my miscarriage it also then provided a convenient excuse for why I'd been off - 'my back got worse'. I really hate being dishonest but sometimes we have to protect ourselves. And my back had genuinely been a bit sore, so for me it wasn't a total lie.
