Failed 1st FET

Hi All,

I just found out last week my first FET failed. I couldn't get my lining up above 6.3mm and the clinic were happy to go ahead as I had a lovely triple line and even during my egg collection my lining only made it to 6.8mm. I was taking pomegranate juice and l-arginine throughout to hopefully increase my lining but my BETA came back on day of blood test completely negative. I am 32 and didn't get my embryos PGTA tested. Background of PCOS with no cycle.

Based on my blood results the clinic said everything looked normal including all my hormone bloods, so they dont know why it didn't work. I have a meeting with my consultant next week to talk about next steps but I am so so worried now going into the next transfer as I never want to feel how I did when they called me last week to say the transfer was unsuccessful. I did not test prior to the blood test HCG as I didn't wat to jinx anything!!

Are there any things I should be asking my clinic to do prior to transfer to try and support the the next FET being a success?

This journey is excruiating.

Tara xx

I don’t think there was anything necessarily wrong with the embryo- your lining was nowhere near thick enough and I’m honestly shocked they decided to transfer! You may need to do a medicated cycle with estrogen suppositories. I had a similar situation it wouldn’t go above 6.5 so I switched to vaginal suppositories instead of oral estrogen and now my lining gets up to 10-11 for each transfer. Good luck xx

I have the same problem although I got to 7.3 last time after having down reg meds, a scratch and a hysterscopy. Please can you recommend a dose of vaginal oestrogen that you were on thank you xx

I always start out on 2mg vaginal suppository and then after about 3-4 days I switch to 2mg in AM and 2mg in PM. I no longer take the oral balmy body does not respond to it at all.

I am really sorry to hear this sending hugs. It’s so hard what we all have to go through. I also have lining issues too sadly (please see my post below) and it makes me very stressed as I dread my scans because I am scared of what it will be. Good luck xx

my lining didn’t get thicker than 6mm until I tried a “natural cycle” (frozen embryo transfer with just progesterone and using the timing of my natural cycle). The doctor said some peopls linings just don’t respond to the synthetic estrogen. Good luck!
