So round 3 we got 11 eggs, 9 fertilised and 2 have made to blastocysts grade BB so good enough to freeze. Do we put 1 or 2 in? We have never had anything good enough to freeze before and only 1 that reaches blastocyst stage in the other two rounds but very poor quality. So I think the supplements have definitely helped in the amount /quality of the eggs. Just nervous in freezing in case they don’t survive the thaw. Any suggestions? Good luck to everyone where ever you are in your cycle xx

My husband and I had the same conversation last night - we came up with putting two back in. Increases the chances right? We’d just have to accept that we’d have to go through egg collection process again if it didn’t work. But we get another free go on nhs so wouldn’t be paying ourselves. This is our first go
Thanks Olivia, we are so shocked we have something to freeze! We always said if it’s going in the bin anyway then might as well put it in. Now we can’t decide. Good luck with your transfer today xx
It's a very personal decision I think I would be tempted to pop both in but you must feel happy with your choice and no one knows the outcome at this stage whatever you choose wishing you good luck whatever you decide x
Thanks missy, I think I’ll see what the clinic recommend, they seem to be pushing for one to transfer and one to freeze but I’m not sure why. Good luck with your transfer xx
Yes I agree with Olivia they are cutting back on multiples! Make it your choice not the clinic. Under 40s it’s bronally one after 40 it’s two as it gives better chance of working. So go with what you want to do. I told the clinic what I wanted!! abroad three is the normal xxx
It’s a very personal choice. There are regulations- for example, first try, good quality embryo and age less than 37, you are often only allowed one to transfer.
If you search the forum, there are lots of threads on this.
We were only allowed one to transfer on our fresh cycle but we had a few to freeze. We had a BFN. For our frozen transfer, I went for one. The success rate depending on your age is not that much higher and there are risks associated with twin pregnancies to maternal health. For me, if this cycle failed, I would go for two next time. If you go for two, you need to be prepared for a twin pregnancy I’m 8 weeks pregnant now x
Thats the decision which can be difficult...i can only speak in my own experience so this what we did. we have a son from fresh ivf 4yrs ago, we have also been lucky to have 6very good blastocysts to freeze from this cycle. We did got back to FET last year with only one embryo transfer-I’ve luckily got pregnant again but sadly miscarried at 7+1 week. For our second FET we still had 5in freezer we meant to go to transfer 2 embies but last minute I have got scared from getting pregnant with twins and changed my mind and end up transferring one embie- this was BFN. Our next 3FET later in a year would definitely be with 2 embies! This was our road up to now. At first I’ve thought that if I only get pregnant I will be ok to go further down as did with my son but seems with FET might not be the case as my miscarriage shows...second FET end up negative so I’m not certain any more that we would’ve get pregnant again but I’m sure now I will go with two next time. I guess we needed above route to decide to go for two embies and we are now ready for it. This is really personal feel I think and stick to what you think will give you the most confidence. I hope I’ve gave you some light for decision 😊
Obviously this is just 1 study and more research is probably going on right now, but it does turn on it's head what has been done for many years in IVF.
I've had cycles with 1 and 2 put back for various reasons. I spose the frustrating thing with IVF is that we never really truly know the reason for a failed or successful outcome do we?
With my eldest daughter, the 1st embryo they thawed did not thaw well, so they gave me the option of trying with that one (although in their words it was "unlikely to result in a pregnancy") OR they could thaw the next one. I asked if they would thaw the next one so I could put BOTH back, because I couldnt stand not to give the 1st one a "chance". They did agree to this, due to my age, and we were private, but it was not something they suggested.
However, this was before the above study, and was a decision fueled by raw emotion because obviously I was there for my FET and we had to decide in the waiting room there and then what to do. So we had both put back and I got my BFP but only 1 heartbeat and 1 baby.
Whatever you decide I wish you all the luck in the world
