8 eggs collected, 4 fertilised

Hi everyone,

This is my first IVF cycle and I know that numbers can fall quickly but I was just wondering if there are some positive stories out there where numbers have fallen quickly? I was feeling quite positive about egg collection as I had a good number of follicles and my AMH etc is good, but they only managed to collect 8 and then only 4 of them fertilised. I now have to wait until Monday to see how many have made it to the blastocyst stage. I am trying to keep positive but I feel like our chances of having any left by Monday are very slim

Hi there, don't loose hope yet ! I always collected 6-7 eggs only despite having a good AMH and follicule count. On my last cycle, out of 7 eggs, only 1 fertilised. Feeling totally defeated and thought my chances were null but it made it to day5!! And I got my BFP and this time was not an ectopic either ! Soooo I would say, number does not matter ! Good luck xxx

Yes, on my first round 20 eggs were collected, 14 fertilised, 3 blasts and bfp on frozen transfer of last 2. There's every chance for you! Xx

Please don’t be disheartened, the numbers at each stage don’t really mean much for the final result. For example, I got 15 eggs, 12 fertilised, but then only two made it to blastocyst - a friend of mine got 8 eggs, 6 fertilised and 5 made it to blastocyst! Try and keep your hope up , your one might well be in there 🤞💪🍀 x

Thank you for your encouraging replies, it’s hard to stay positive but keep trying to think I only need 1! X

Hi, we had 9 eggs collected - 3 were mature and 2 fertilised. I am currently 4 weeks off giving birth with one of them! So definitely you have a good chance! Good luck!!!!!!!!! Xxx

I had 27 eggs collected, only 13 mature 9 of which fertilised and then 5 ended up frozen. So it can drop a lot but those frozen will be perfect 🤞🏽Good luck x

Hi I had my eggs collection on Thursday and informed they collected 9 eggs. Received phone call on Friday morning to say 4 fertilized and query 1 so they was going to wait and watch. I couldn’t help but feel disappointed and feel like you having any left by transfer is slim.

Fingers crossed for us both xx

Hey - stay positive. Last fresh round we only got thee eggs. All fertilised and all got to blasto stage so it can happen. Fresh one didn’t stick unfortunately, but we have one in the freezer going in on the 20th of June so it can be fine with low numbers

I have a positive story! We have male infertility so I am healthy and usually would get around 12 mature excellent quality eggs. (4 fresh cycles)

Then comes fertilization I usually get 3 or 4 fertilized and so my clinic would not even let me reach blastocyst and I would do a third day transfer.

And I do have a 2.5 years daughter and currently pregnant with my latest fresh transfer.

So bottom line is don't think about the numbers or even reaching blastocyst.

Good luck!!!
