When can I bathe?

Don't worry, I have been showering but I really miss bathing. Does anyone know how long I should wait after embryo transfer to be safe?

Thankyou xx

If you're pregnant the general advice is to keep baths short and they should only be 37C. Personally I've only used the shower to be on the safer side.

I waited until 36 wks pregnant 😂 and even then I had a relatively cool bath after 2 days slumming in PJs sorting babies room x I just got it into my head ‘no baths’ which is silly really as long as you aren’t boiling yourself x

I was told to wait 2 weeks following egg retrieval to minimise risk of infection, and then keep it under 37 degrees and not stay in too long! They didn't seem too bothered following transfer.

I love a hot bath, I mean the sort that leaves a red tide line on your skin!!! I had a few when I was unknowingly pregnant! Like others said, I think the advice is just to keep the temperature a bit lower and you should be ok. Probs best to avoid perfumed bubbles etc. too.

After transfer I think it was up to a couple of weeks to avoid the very small risk of infection. Once past that I carried on having warm baths throughout both pregnancies as the reason to avoid them is your core temperature getting too high and possible risk of birth defects but this is based on some old advice linked to women who had fevers in early pregnancy. There's more recent research showing that your temp doesn't really change when you have a bath, provided you don't boil yourself for a long time that is. Once you get the typical pregnancy aches and pains baths may be the only thing that gives you any relief! And it's very unlikely bubble bath can absorb and get to the baby - there's probably more of a risk from inhaling a lung full of air in London. Virtually everything is potentially harmful in pregnancy and you can drive yourself mad with worry.
