When can I test and expect a reliable result?

Anyone have any experience on when I could do a hpt after 3dt? I don’t want to test too early but I’m getting impatient!! I’m currently 6dpt and going crazy not knowing 😔😬

I didn’t get a positive until 9dp5dt although some ladies get it as early as 6-7dp5dt. I found the following helpful as it describes what happens day by day to an embryo following transfer (this is day 5 so add 2 days for a 3 day):

Day 1: The blastocyst begins to hatch out of its shell.

Day 2: The blastocyst continues to hatch out of its shell and begins to attach itself to the uterus.

Day 3: The blastocyst attaches deeper into the uterine lining, beginning implantation.

Day 4: Implantation continues.

Day 5: Implantation is complete. Cells that eventually become the placenta and fetus have begun to develop.

Day 6: Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), the hormone that signals a developing pregnancy, starts to enter the blood stream.

Days 7 and 8: Fetal development continues and hCG continues to be secreted.

Day 9: Levels of hCG are now high enough in maternal blood to detect a pregnancy using a blood test.

But is this a fresh transfer or frozen? My doctor does the beta test after 7 days but according to your timeline it takes 9 days?

Hi Blu. Please try and hang on until the day you have been recommended to test by your clinic. Keep busy meantime and fingers crossed. Diane

I know that’s the sensible thing to do and I want to try and wait. But on the other hand I am struggling with the not knowing . Keeping busy it is 😂

Well done for making it to day 5. The 2ww is gruelling!! Nothing can really be ‘reliable’ until your otd because either way your clinic won’t want to hear from you till then, but in my opinion, if you don’t have a bfp by 9dp5dt on a FRER it will likely stay that way BUT late implanters are a thing so better t stay happy in the bubble till you can be certain. I got my bfp on a FRER on day 6 🤪 ( serial early tester) and it would have been there earlier too as my hcg was super high. Xxxxxx

The 2ww is so tough!!!

I was that focused on getting through the drugs and the procedures I never thought about this part. Thankfully I’ve been at work so it’s kept me busy for the last 5 days. I’m off Friday though so can see me testing then😆 Congrats on your bfp xx

You should get a result on a first response If you Test now.

I got a Very very very faint BFP at 3dp5dt but it was A definite BFP at 4dp5dt but I’m having twins

Last time I got a BFP with IVF it was also around 4dp5dt

That’s helped , thanks 😊

Be careful testing too early - my trigger was still in my system 7dp3dt and 6dp5dt on different rounds and both times got excited for nothing! Good luck! xx

I tested day 9 after my embryo transfer, my embryo was 5 days old. Unfortunately, it was a negative. I think from day 9 onwards you will be able to detect a BFP. Sending you baby dust

Thanks for the reply though this is an old post. I did test on day 8 with a day 3 transfer. I got a BFP!! I am 9 weeks tomorrow 😊 it’s good for others to read though as I found the 2WW and the urge to test the hardest part.

Wishing the best to you and everyone else on here ♥️
