Update - 2nd Transfer

hi girls!

I haven’t written here for a while as I switched myself off from IVF for a bit - we all know how it can take over our entire life! I wanted a mental break and tbh after my first failed transfer, I just got to a mental state where I was so down I had to snap out of it eventually and just “not care” as bad as it sounds but to go into a “eff it” kind of mode.

We visited hospital for frozen transfer next but I decided to hold off and do it in July. I would like to have a normal period first as nurse said it’s not mandatory, but recommended. I thought it would be wise to wait - or am I wrong? I also don’t feel mentally ready yet or excited anymore for the next transfer as the first one failing spoiled it all for me and I know that bad to say, but it really knocks you!

I am going to be on Progynova (I think it’s spelled like that) for estrogen and then cyclogest rectally 2x a day and Lubion injection 1x a day as my progesterone. First transfer I was only on x2 cyclogest - no injections. I believe I bled clots and loads due to not enough progesterone so asked for Lubion this time around!

Did I do the right thing to wait until I have a normal period before starting next transfer? Any advice suggestions tips comments opinions etc all welcome and appreciated! 🤗

Hi - waiting will do no harm. I was due to have my FET in May but delayed it a few months as I didn't feel there mentally and physically. I'm planning it for July now. My period is due today, then my next period I will start meds for FET.

Hope you are ok xx

Hello x ah so we are both starting it in July! Yeah I am same as you felt like mentally and physically just needed more time to heal and prepare for next transfer. This is our last embryo also so it’s quite scary bc I know there’s chances it may not work again so maybe part of me is scared to go ahead with it yet also… I am due my period this week but have no symptoms whatsoever so not sure what’s going on… it will be the following period I will start FET x

It's my one and only frozen embryo too so feel pressure there. I'll have to do another fresh round after this and no idea how I'll afford it lol xx

Hi KFC. Yes, my feelings are, that it is best to go with a period that is normal to you. Good luck. Diane

hi Diane

thank you for your reply

my only concern is I don’t even feel my period coming. Is it normal to feel this way after a failed embryo transfer? Also during my failed embryo transfer. I definitely know it was not a period that I got as I was clotting loads and a lot of pain so it may have been a chemical pregnancy x

Hi. It can take up to three months for a cycle to return back to what is normal for you. If you are worried see if the clinic or your GP can arrange a scan for you. Diane

I rested for 3 months after my 5th transfer and got a bfp. Sometimes rest may not be a bad thing. I paused it due to work commitment and felt it was a blessing in disguise!

that’s great news. I’m so happy for you that it worked out in the end and yes, rest is very important. I’m using this time to make sure I’m eating super healthy, taking my vitamins and exercising daily x

Nothing guarantees a success. But being nice to yourself never hurts. Instead of focusing on staying healthy, remember to stay cheerful.

yeah I think you did the right thing, as much as waiting is a pain, it’s nice to get a little more ready mentally and give your body a wee break!
