Hi there, I’m sorry if this is a tough post for some as I realise how lucky we are to have a child.
I had a round of ICSI 2019 (male factor) and had 4 embryos on day 5, transferred 1 fresh - failed, 2nd transfer - a FET failed and 3rd transfer success - 2 embryos transferred both stuck but one only made it, 1 passed at 8 weeks gestation, the other thankfully is our little boy 🥰
Just done another IVF/ ICSI round to try for a sibling, this time 11 embryos, 1 fresh transfer and 10 frozen, however 8dp5dt I started red spotting/ light bleeding and a negative HPT on OTD.
Just wondering if anyone had a successful ivf pregnancy and then tried for a sibling and if it took many transfers? My first was 3 transfers, 4 embryos. Any information or personal stories greatly appreciated! 😃. I’m just looking for hope that we might get a BFP in the next transfer or so 😃

I can’t help but would be interested also. It took us 5 transfers and many cancelled rounds to get our little one. We’d like to go again but back and forward abroad if it’s going to take ages 🤔 or not happen xxx
I think we were generally quite lucky so not sure if helpful - no.1 was on the second fresh transfer (first failed) and then sibling was on the first FET 2 years later. From your history, it's possible you may get on better with frozen transfers so hopefully your next frostie or two will be a success. Good luck! xx
In a similarish situation to you. 3 transfers to have my son and have now done 2 more egg collections and transferred 4 embryos but unfortunately no luck. I had early bleeding around a similar time to you and it was a chemical. I think the early bleeding may also have been caused by too little progesterone so on my most recent cycle I also had injections. BFN but I didn’t bleed early. I’m older now so was always expecting more attempts than last time but it’s hard to keep hopeful not knowing when/if it’ll happen. 10 frozen embryos is a great position to be in, sounds like the odds are in your favour
I had a successful pregnancy on my third transfer, first FET. Then did another round which was meant to be banking around 10 months after the birth and it didn't go well at all - I think it was mainly mistakes by the clinic and I wish now I'd gone with my gut and cancelled. That ended in a PUL and surgery. Then I went back to my private clinic where I'd had success first time, and had a FET from the same batch as had worked and that was a BFN. Those things trying for a sibling really knocked my confidence as I thought as it had worked once it would be easier. But then I fell pregnant naturally the following month waiting to do a natural FET. So it's been third time for each success I suppose for me. Having said that I think those are good rates as from what I understand now, 1 in 3 is average just for implantation, not a live birth. Sounds like you've got a really good number of frosties so hopefully it's just a case of keep going even though I know it's hard (and expensive). Maybe if you don't get anywhere in another 2 or 3 transfers it would be worth some further investigations.
our first round was basically the same as yours 6 embryos made and it took us 3 transfers and 4th embryo to stick with 2 in the freezer. So far we have transferred both those frozen ones and did another 5 egg collections with another 6 transfers (so 8 transfers altogether mostly double embryos) and still no luck! Had a few miscarriages but no live birth. Its a really different frustration when youve already been successful as you can know it can happen so absolutely adds to the impatience/frustration as I stupidly thought It would be easier this time/ less pressure as we already had a wee boy. It is absolutely not!
11 embryos is absolutely fantastic though from round 2 and I’m hoping it is much quicker for you 🤗 I would ask about extra progesterone (maybe adding lubion if you aren’t already taking it) as you had some bleeding before test day xx
Hi … In a nutshell its taken 5 transfers (4 fresh retrievals) to get to dd1 … and another 3 transfers (2 fresh retrievals) to get to a sibling dd2 .. ive been on the ivf train from hell for over a decade now trying to complete our family 😭
Ivf 1 ohhs and hospitalized so had to freeze all…
fet 1 - transferred 2 / MCS
2nd fet - transferred 2 - BFN
Ivf 2 fresh - transferred 3 BFN
Ivf 3 Fresh- transferred 2 positive but MCS
Ivf 4 fresh - transferred 2 positive /dd1 - 2016
Ivf 5 fresh- transferred 2 / chemical 2019
3rd Fet - transferred 2 - BFN 2019
Ivf 6 fresh- positive Dd2 - 2020
Not for everyone but for us its taken alot of transfers to get to a positive that sticks
Ten frozen embryos is amazing. I've never had enough to freeze so I'm well jealous lol. I'm trying for a sibling too. Hopefully it works within the next few rounds for you.
10 embryos is amazing well done! For our son I was 27 and it took four embryo transfers and at each egg collection we got one embryo each time and because of pcos and prior over stimulation we had to do frozen transfers each time so was a bit of a slog mentally. I was dreading starting ivf again after 30 as I thought for sure it would much harder but to my surprise we got 3 frozen embryos and the second one stuck 🥰. Our first was ironically the best grading we ever had - 5 AA and was the only embryo out of the 6 to not defrost too well and it looked at bit sad on transfer day so I just knew it would fail. Anyway, that’s my story and wishing you all the best for your next transfer 🤞🏼
