Pregnant and nauseous

Hi ladies. I am currently 6 weeks pregnant and feel very nauseous all the time. I feel so hungry but when it comes to eating I can't stomach anything. I'm a bit worried that I'm not giving my baby enough nutrients and was seeing if anyone has any advice on what to eat or do. The smell of most things just make me feel sick

Any advice would be grateful xx

I was the same! Baby will zap you of all you have regardless of if your not eating much or throwing up! Get to your gp if it gets unbearable, I had it all the way through with both of mine and tried medication with my second, a few different ones, none worked great but made some days more bearable!

I tried little and often, bland foods, all the tricks and tips you can Google but none worked. Ice poles were pretty ok though xx

All I seem to be able to stomach is toast or crackers. Anything dry basically. I'm just worried about not feeding my baby good healthy food. I'm trying to eat eggs and avocado in the morning, but the smell is unbearable. Same with evening meals, I'm hardly eating anything but I'm so hungry. Thanks for sharing your experience and if it doesn't get any better I will see if I can get medication from my gp

Hi lovely, my doctor recommended extra vitamin B6 (10-20mg, 2-3x per day) for nausea. Also, I found that mixing an electrolyte packet into my water seemed to make the nausea subside enough that I was able to eat. I have no idea why and neither did my doctor, but it worked so hey! Good luck, I know it's quite stressful xx

Is the forum on here for questions if you are over 6 weeks pregnant following fertility treatment and is really helpful, especially in the early stages 🤗 in case it helps you!

Ps dont worry I lived off ice lollies from weeks 6-12 and all was fine. Ask your midwife or GP about the anti sickness meds though sooner rather than later as they can sometimes help and I didn’t as for then u tik week 10 which I regret (didn’t sure just make it a bit more tolerable) xx

I was the same could not stomach anything week 6 to 9. I was told in these early weeks the baby gets all they need from the yolk sac and u only need to worry about ur food when the placenta kicks in after week 10. So don't stress just eat what u can get down. I also ended up having cyclizine from the gp for nausea.

I was the same. Beige food and ginger tea was the only thing for a good few weeks. If you can keep taking your vitamins - you have enough stores for now, baby will be fine.

This is survival - go with how you feel and if and when you have a good day maximise nutrition then. This won’t last, you’re doing great!

Hi, sorry to hear you are feeling so unwell. I had Hyperemesis & barely ate anything for the first 2 months of my pregnancy, & anything I did eat I ended up throwing up. Baby was absolutely fine as they just take everything they need from you. If the nausea/being sick becomes too much then make sure you seek help from the GP sooner rather than later, it’s not nice being sick all the time. And just eat/drink whatever you can, don’t worry about what you ‘should’ be eating, baby will be ok x

Thank you that's reassuring to hear. I'm eating what I can but I just want very plain food, just so I don't throw up. I will definitely contact my GP if it gets too much. Thank you xx
