Hi, this is a strange question I have but are the HCG strips accurate? I came to know I was pregnant through 4 strip tests which all came positive, got confirmation from fertility nurse over email that those are positive. I also got bloods done which confirms I ovulated as well.I started bleeding at 5w and miscarried at 6w with a clot that definitely lookes like the fetal sac. I gave them to the clinic for testing and burial, and got scan done next day to confirm that I had a complete miscarriage.
However today I'm told that the clot wasn't any fetal matter, and I questioned if my pregnancy was confirmed and if I got negative pregnancy test after miscarriage. I have done 2 tests, negative clear as a day. I know it wasn't my period as it is never that heavy and painful.
I want to know if I was even pregnant? What is happening?

Hi, firstly I'm so sorry you're going through this and I'm sending so much compassion your way. If it helps, I had a complete miscarriage at around 5.5 weeks and here is my experience.
After a few days of spotting my clinic scanned me at the 5 week mark where they could see the sac, but sadly confirmed that the pregnancy was of uncertain viability and to expect a miscarriage.
My bleeding got heavier, but I didn't really have any noticeable clots. When the clinic scanned me a few days later the sac had been passed, which surprised me as I thought I'd 'know' somehow. But the sad truth is that at this early stage the foetus is very tiny and it's likely you didn't notice that you'd passed it.
So to answer your question, yes, it certainly sounds like you were pregnant. They count it as a clinical pregnancy at that point, not a chemical one. Though it was early, it was a loss and you have every right to grieve. Your feelings of sadness and confusion are understandable and valid. I'd recommend checking out the_worstgirlgang_ever. They've got some great posts and resources on loss (including early losses like ours) that will hopefully provide some comfort at this difficult time.
it does sound like you were pregnant but the clot just wasn’t the fetus or perhaps it was an empty sac that grew (also produces HCG) the fetus is size the size of a seed at the start I’ve had a few miscarriages and only actually noticed the fetal matter once, even my 9 week miscarriage I couldn’t be 100% sure. I’m so sorry for you loss absolutely gutted for you 😢 you were pregnant though and that’s good sign that conditions were right for implantation for if /when you are ready to try again xxx
