OTD today and so confused

I stupidly tested early on 8dp5db and again on day 9 and 10. All 3 tests showed faint positive lines using the cheap strip tests. This morning for OTD I used a fresh new clear blue test and it showed negative but with no control line, so I'm assuming it was a dud test.

Since then I've done 2 of the cheap tests again and both are negative. This obviously wasn't "morning wee" though. Is there any chance that I could still be pregnant but it isn't showing or is this potentially a chemical pregnancy that has come and gone?

I'm devastated. Early testing gave me false hope. I don't know what to do with myself now. Call the clinic and tell them it is negative or hang on for tomorrow's morning wee and test again? I'm now 11dp5db so I'm assuming hcg levels should be detectable even later in the day?

I would wait until your first morning wee and test again. The cheap one can often only pick up over 25 hcg and your urine could have been diluted. Fingers crossed if your lines have always been light then it’s not a chemical.

Do you clinic do blood hcg? X

No they say if it you get a positive test then you come back for a scan after 3 weeks. Thanks for the advice, I'll hang on until tomorrow and do another morning test. It is so difficult to process, I feel completely stuck in limbo.

Very difficult process. I would order a blood hcg online from London laboratory to be absolutely sure if it was me x

Hi lovely, if you can get a first response test. I avoided the clear blue ones as I have seen a number of post where they are basically dodgy to read etc. first response are sensitive too so fingers crossed you see 2 lines in the morning xx

I would say if you had a faint line on a cheapie test so early then you’ve got a decent chance. Like the others said get a first response test and try again with morning wee. Good luck x

sometimes my wee from later in the day was better than morning. I'd make sure you use a collection pot whenever you take it and get a first response if you can. I all the best xx

So I tested again last night (after not going to the loo for ages) and again this morning and I have positive lines!

Thte bottom FR test is last night, top 2 are this morning. I'm still a little worried that the line this morning is lighter than last night, but do you think I can be cautiously optimistic?

I'm so furious at the dud clear blue test yesterday that sent me into a spiral of despair!

Definitely cause for optimism- the darkness of the line can very a little depending on concentration of urine - and lots of people say they get darker lines later in the day. Also the FRER lines dry a lot darker after several hours. Those are definitely positive!

Great news!!! Looks like a positive 😀

Thank you and fingers crossed for you too! It is so hard to feel excited when it just feels like a new level of torture and waiting to get to the next step. Did your clinic do bloods?

Oh right. I need to ask my clinic. Can't stand the idea of waiting 3 weeks, I'll go mad. Hoping your bleeding stops, can you call your clinic or anything? Xx

Look like great positives

Did you have a trigger shot as part of ivf? If so I hate to say it but it could have been detecting the HCG from the trigger shot. You should have a decent line by day 11 but try different wee’s at different times of the day. Some people get it stronger in the morning some in the evening. Fingers crossed for you.

You need to buy a clear blue test or first response test. By now it would show the right results. Do your clinic do hcg tests? That's what you really need xd
