I've had the EMMA ALICE test done and my micrbiome came back abnormal with 82% Gardnerella (BV bacteria) and only 13% lactobacillus which should be up over 90%. I've been prescribed 10 days of antibiotics and then probiotics, and have the option to go straight into FET a couple of weeks after treatment finishes, or to retest to check if it's worked and lose another couple of months.
I'm pretty sure the reason for the imbalance was a miscarriage I had in October that went on until December, with retained products, D&C etc. So feeling vulnerable and like I simultaneously want to transfer NOW and also that I want peace of mind that things are okay with the uterine environment. I'm 41 so very aware of every month passing.
Anyone who took an antibiotic for abnormal results, did you retest? Had the treatment been successful?
Thanks!

Hi, I retested and my result was too low to be conclusive - because the bad bacteria had been wiped out by the antibiotics but not enough of the good bacteria had regrown. However that was a good enough result to proceed, so we did a FET on my next round. That one ended in miscarriage but the following 2 were successful. Good luck with whatever you decide to do xx
Thanks for replying! Oh interesting, so on your retest was it overall low lactobacillus, or just low everything? Great to hear you had success, from reading it seems like it takes time to rebuild the good bacteria. May I ask, was your baddie gardnerella or something else?
I watched fertility expert run through ERA, and he pointed to research where they did test on group with and without doing it, turned out those who didn't have treatment ended up with higher bacteria because body corrects itself. It blew my mind. He advised ERA is still area of research.
