I’m new to hear and wanted to share my story , I’ve been reading some other posts and it’s really helped.
Hope my post can also support anyone else also going through similar.
Started my first round of IVF cycle last month with donor sperm as my husband sadly has non obstructive azoospermia.
Eggs collected last Wednesday, 9 eggs , 8 embryos day 3 with only 2 embryos making it to day 5 for FET at grades: 3AB & 3CC.
I was really surprised how my embryos developed as all the cells were showing grade 1 &2 day 3. Has anyone else also have similar differences from day 3 to 5 ? From what I am reading sounds common.
Due to my estrogen levels being high from stimulation and concerns of OHSS, I was put on blood thinnerst and other injection post egg collection. Bloating has reduced now and feeling back to normal. So I was not able to get a fresh embryo transfer only frozen
Now waiting for next cycle to have a frozen embryo transfer .
Has anyone experiences any issues with frozen embryos post thawing ?
Wishing you all lots of luck to rest of you on a similar journey. 😘

Heyy! I've had 2 frozen transfers so far and no issues with thawing, I think statistically the thawing process is very successful, altho my 3rd transfer is a poor quality embryo so perhaps less chance of that surviving - they've not said that but I'm just thinking it! Preparing myself for disappointment I suppose after two miscarriages! I had the same experience as you after egg retrieval, OHSS and put on blood thinners so had to freeze all! The waiting/delays is defo the hardest bit I think, hope you get on ok with your transfers! Xx
Hey. On my first IVF cycle (with donor sperm), I had 16 eggs collected. It dropped drastically to three embryos by Day 3, and then one blastocyst on Day 5. The embryologists told me that it’s all about egg quality until Day 3, and then the sperm kicks in Days 3-5. I was 44, which is presumably why I had such a large drop off from Days 1-3. Whereas you had a really positive number at Day 3. But would be odd if your sperm had a large impact on Days 3-5, considering it was donor sperm (and presumably high quality?). Anyway, sorry for waffling! I’m certainly no expert. Wishing you the very best of luck with your FET xxx
We used MOT 20+ sperm best quality, I am still waiting on some answers from the clinic.
They explained some of the cells didn’t develop as they had expected and were small but I asked for the grading of these embryos at day 5 as still unclear what’s happened xxx
Hi Clementine, I've had a similar experience to you with attrition. With IVF #1 I had 13 eggs fertilised and thought I was guaranteed a good amount of blasts. My old clinic didn't check embryos on Day 3, so you can imagine my shock when I was suddenly down to 2 blasts on Day 5! I had one fresh transfer (BFN) and one frozen (not sure of the grade).
Like you I was so worried that the frozen embryo wouldn't thaw successfully, so I frantically googled and apparently the vitrification methods are so good nowadays that there's a 95% chance the embryos will survive the thaw. I'm guessing this % is a little lower with less high-quality embryos, but I don't think they would've frozen yours if they weren't absolutely confident they could survive the thaw.
