I’m after some reassurance/ support. I’m going through my first cycle of IVF and I just feel so disappointed at each stage. After having 15 follicles only 5 were collected and 4 fertilised. I’ve just had the day 3 call to tell me none are suitable for transfer today (3 x average quality and 1 x poor) and we need to wait to day 5.
I have thrown everything at this over the last 12 months (acupuncture, diet, supplements) and I just feel so deflated and upset at the outcome so far.
I suppose I’m looking for positive stories or reassurance that what I’m feeling is normal in this awful process. X
Hi Bea. So sorry to hear of this result after you have worked so hard. Hopefully the three embryos will pick up and you can go ahead with transfer. If not, remember they will have learned much about you, in preparation for another try.it’s an incredibly difficult time going through IVF, so speak to your embryologist if you need to. Thinking of you. Diane
hi there, so sorry to hear , know you’re not alone in feeling this way. I’ve done one transfer which failed so far, and I’m learning that each different stage of the journey is going to be tough in different ways. I heard recently someone talking about how it can help to approach it as a process, and a long one at that. Framing it as ‘unlikely working first time, even second’. And it’s a long game - so rather than focusing on the transfer / egg collection in front of you, think longer term about how you ensure your health (mentally and physically) is being protected. and that you’re getting closer over time. I just found that quite helping, framing it over a 6,12,18 month period. That’s not to under play how difficult it is in waiting and getting tough result, it’s very very tough. But hope you can use this forum to vent, share and protect yourself over the journey. Sending lots of love x
