I did one. It hurts a little. Definitely take the day off. Some say after it kind of opens up fallopian tubes and might help to try afterwards, but if I remember correctly you have to wait at least one week to have sex, and not to take inmersive baths.

Thank you. Why would I need too take the day off work, is it that bad afterwards?

In my case it was quite painful. Not so much afterwards, but I felt lightheaded and needed to lie down. Maybe the reason why it was painful was cuz I had and obstruction in my left fallpopian tube? I don't know. As the other comments said every woman is different. In my experience it hurts (just for a few seconds but in my case was very intense) and afterwards u feel a bit lightheaded. If possible I would recommend to take the day off. But of course this is based on my personal experience.

Hey, I had this and felt very slight discomfort, nothing more than than and not quite 'pain', everyone's experience is different, I had no issue going to work afterwards, it was a bit like a smear but they insert liquid and that can be the uncomfy bit, it will all be fine ☺️

Thank you for this, my appointment is in the afternoon and I’d be going back to work for around 2-3 hours. It’s okay I’m sat down most of the time, just didn’t know if I could go back to work.

I had my HSG was all okay, wasn’t painful just a slight discomfort. Both my tubes were clear so flowing fine. Got another scan next week to check ovaries again, then phone call in 3 months time with consultant to see how things are going.l

Hi. I had this a number of years ago, no issues found. I took paracetamol an hour before. The procedure did cause discomfort when the dye was flushed through my tubes and then afterwards I just had period type pains after for the rest of the day. I would say the day you have it stay off work but you will be fine after this.

Although I had discomfort/pain during the procedure I read forums with people who didn’t have much discomfort so everyone really is different x

Thank you. I have had it done and wasn’t painful just a slight discomfort, I took paracetamol hour before aswell and just suffered with milk cramps for the next 24 hours. Dye was flowing through no blockages, so consultant will be phoning me in 3 months time, if no luck then medication to stimulate ovulation

Glad to hear you have had it done and was okay (sorry I missed the post saying you had had it). At least everything is clear which is promising. Fingers crossed for you on your journey and good luck xx
