I’m currently having IVF, second scan on Friday to determine if and when egg collection will be.
I want and need to lose weight and manage healthy eating generally in life but, wanted some advice on how to work through this during the process without stressing my body out and harming my chances. Has anyone got any experiences of managing their weight during the process and any tips, do’s and don’ts etc.
Thank you x

hi, I had to loose over a stone to get my BMI down to start the process. I’m 5’1 and I’ve always been a size 12 but apparently that’s obese, which is insane!
I already worked out with a PT and ate relatively healthy but my downfall was having a take away at the weekend, or cake when out for coffee - or maybe both. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that but I think my body just held on to whatever “crap” I ate.
so, I ditched the PTs and bought an exercise bike. I made sure I got a walk and a bike in each day (didn’t have to be long if I was busy etc). Went swimming on Sundays too. I appreciate not everyone has the time for all that but I work from home and I swapped day drinking for the swimming pool!
Food wise: lots of fresh chicken and fish. Pile up the veggies (especially those good for egg quality), eggs, lots of water, nuts and seeds etc. I’ve carried this on through my cycle (currently in my TWW) but just sticking to the walks.
There are lots of info online about fertility diets and even some Instagram accounts with recipes etc if you need some inspo.
Thank you so much! I’m 5”2 and a size 12 and I carry most of my weight around my stomach. My issue is also takeaways, processed food and comfort eating. My body type just doesn’t carry any extra weight well at all and I’m really struggling with self esteem.
I’ve got a PT too but I haven’t seen him since before Xmas due to being ill and then how I’ve been feeling on the injections.
Thank you for the advice, I’ve started eating much better, I just need to remain consistent and add some exercise back in so I’ll defo take in what you said.
I carry my weight on my arms and stomach,… but i think a lot of my stomach weight comes from giant cysts and surgery scars - I basically always look a bit pregnant which isn’t ideal 😂
Consistency is definitely key, but you have to let yourself have a treat otherwise you’ll give in. I think finding foods that are healthy that you genuinely enjoy is key and just keeping all those meals and snacks on rotation in your food shop. Xx
My eating is so driven by my mood and emotions. Doesn’t help when this is an emotionally challenging process and life in general can me. Good to talk to someone who gets it ☺️ xx
