Hey everyone. Hope you are well and getting through what seems like the longest coldest Jan ever!
10 day course of norethisterone prescribed to time start of my next cycle. I am due on my period today (if I had not been on norethisterone). My last day of taking it is tomorrow. I have been feeling so groggy with mild period pains and really tired. Hot flashes at night. My sleep has been really disturbed - waking up in early hours and not getting back to sleep.
I feel like my period could start any second, but my scan is not till Monday so hoping I won’t till then.
Any experiences shared would be welcome

The symptoms you mention are caused by the medication and should stop when you start stims Sounds as through everything is on track for bleeding to start Then you will be able to start the next step Wishing you good luck and remember anything you are unsure of ask the clinic/nurse to explain it to you
Hi Cuppppatea, I found the northisterone terrible. Really bad side effects and felt hot and period-y for the whole 2 weeks I took it. I also had the sleep disturbance and I had panic attacks which started 24 hours after the first dose and continued roughly 8-10 times a day for over a week. It was horrible - driving my car was horrendous. Although I felt it before that, my period eventually came three days after I stopped northisterone which was perfect timing for my cycle. I started stims 5 days after stopping northisterone and immediately felt better. Hope it is the same for you!
I had the same, insomnia, uncontrollable crying, sad, upset, bad mood etc I was awful. As soon as I stopped taking them and had my period before starting stims I was absolutely fine again! Good luck 🤞🏻 xxx
I had terrible insomnia when taking it too. I tried to take it a few hours before bed after the first couple of nights tossing and turning. It’s a horrible medication, I was counting down the days until I could stop taking it. Hope you feel better soon, the side effects stopped pretty quickly for me xx
I'm currently on Provera (which is the same but different brand) for my down reg too - and I have the RAGE..... I've taken it 3 times and it always makes me feel utterly awful - indeed the worst part of a transfer cycle.
The good thing is it's normal and it will stop as soon as you stop taking the tablets.
ooo this stuff is horrible, but as others have said the symptoms stop very quickly as soon as you stop taking it and it is effective at starting the bleed when you want.
My experience is feeling every emotion is just below the surface, feeling really angry and grumpy (really unlike me), and an on off feeling of cramp. Really hope you soon start feeling better.
still anxiously awaiting period and nothing yet. I’m worried it won’t have even happened by Monday for my scan - I’m having to call in sick for this so stressing about what I should do in the event it hasn’t happened yet 😩🙃
