I would go for double as if it’s a day three transfer they obviously don’t expect the other one to make it to a stage to freeze?
My only successful transfer has been a single, day 5 that was an already hatching embryo and he’s now 6. On my next FET cycle I’m doing two as we’ve had failed single transfers since.
But speak to your clinic and see what the consultant would advise if you haven’t already.
Ahh ok! For my very first ivf round, I had double put back in on day 3. Both embryos did not look like they would make it. However, Both implanted but unfortunately we lost one along the way. That’s great news that you have two frozen embryos to transfer on your next round, I truly wish you all the luck and hope you keep posting about your story x
We were all up for double transfers but then thought a single, in my mind I’d think they’d be fighting for a place. And if it didn’t work and your body isn’t ready, you’d have another shot. And that would be cheaper than a whole new cycle of ivf.
Hi, Like you said it is more of a personal choice. I did 6x double transfer and 1x single.
I am now 21 weeks pregnant from a double but only one baby, so only 1 stuck.
Also if you do a single transfer there is a possibility that the other doesn't make it to the freezing stage. That was always my fear, and in my mind that would be a wasted chance.
it’s very personal. I have twins from a double transfer and I love being a twin mum but I know just as many IVF mums who had triplets from a double transfer. Having twins did cost me my marriage though 😳
Only do it if you are comfortable emotionally physically and financially having multiples x
This is it! I am not feeling comfortable physically, emotionally or financially to have twins. So I decided to go single transfer but pushed for day 3. My clinic only recommend day 5 transfers even if your embryos don’t look like they will survive. They say that the stats show that day 3 transfer success rates aren’t great so may as well wait until day 5 instead of wasting money on the transfer. But I can’t ignore that my successful round actually came from a day 3 transfer!!
thanks for your responses. Lots of back and forth in my mind! In the end I decided to go day 3 transfer with single embryo. My clinic don’t do day 3 transfers but were willing to accommodate me. I just couldn’t risk having twins.
