I asked myself the same thing at the beginning, because my dose is very high (4 Cyclogest + 4 utrogestan / day) and they have completely reassured me. Better more to less, no problem for the baby and no important side effects for us!!!

You begin to reduce in week 12 and stop at 14/16

It can vary from clinic to clinic - ask your clinic to explain it to you and how the progesterone helps support the pregnancy till the placenta takes over

Hi. My clinic continues it till week 28 of pregnancy (with no background of low progesterone levels). There are different theories regarding excessive Progesterone and as far as I am aware, there's no sure answer to whether extra progesterone can be harmful or not. My clinic believes the theory that body cannot utilize the excess hormone anyway, and it gets discarded naturally.

my clinic told me to continue to week 12 - sometimes they stop it earlier but if you’ve had a previous miscarriage continue for longer

My clinic stop at 12 weeks unless you have had a previous miscarriage and spotting/bleeding. Then it continues for 16 weeks

Hi, my clinic got me to stop using progesterone crinone twice a day at 7 weeks pregnant and I'm now 20 weeks and 4 days pregnant with a healthy little boy, your body starts to produce it normally so there is no need to take it for longer unless you have unusual low progesterone levels, I also had a missed miscarriage earlier this year and they still got me to stop at 7 weeks but every clinic is different

I have taken progesterone pesseries 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening as well as 2 Lubion injections for the first 12 weeks.

My clinic started reducing week 8 or 9. I wasn't sure at first so did a progesterone test and my levels were really high. I think around 2000 nmol. It showed that my body had started taking over progesterone production. I have twins from that transfer.

My clinic gives it for 8 weeks too when the placenta is supposed to take over the production of hormones. I had it for 12 weeks due to a bleed in week 5. Good luck!

I started weaning from wk12 and stopped at wk16. Ask your clinic why they stop at wk8 and if they should test your progesterone before taking you off… good luck x
