My understanding is yes, the protocol can make a difference to the eggs produced. I don’t know if it directly effects the quality but it can give them the right stimulation to grow correctly and mature properly.
Quality probably comes down to your lifestyle and supplements taken in the months prior to your cycle.
a big part of not making it to day 5 is our age as the ‘energy’ needed for the embryo to get to day 5 is quite a lot and sometimes as we get older they just don’t have the same stamina is how my embryologist explained it to me l. That’s where your supplements you are taking can come in and help give them the extra boost to maturity so it defo can be a factor and hopefully will make the difference for you next round 🤗 xx
Hi Cupppatea. We have to take what eggs decide to release from your ovaries. Hopefully, there will be a few mature ones to fertilise. Try eating pineapple core to ensure a good blood supply to womb and ovaries and also prevent clot formation. Good luck. Diane
My first two cycles were long protocol at 39 with down regulation and I got more eggs per retrieval (7 and 9) but fewer were mature and only 1 blast each time per cycle and BFN for both. I disliked the down regulation.
Then switched clinics and was 40 and did a short cycle - only 3 eggs ( from 6 follicles) one made it to day 5 and gave me my son. So stuck with the short protocol and a year later, tried again, 6 eggs 3 blasts and 2 BFN and 1 mmc. For me it’s now down to age as I’m now 43 but if I was under 40 like you, there is still a good chance with own eggs but does take more tries. I much preferred the short protocol and if I was a year younger I would be trying it again. Results can be very different between cycles so don’t give up hope, because when I was giving up hope with my worst egg retrieval to date, that one worked. Keep going x 🍀🍀🤞🤞x
