Bleed during TWW

Hi All,

I seem to bleed during the TWW, first four ivf rounds I was on either utrogestan or cyclogest pessary only and I bled day 8/9 of the TWW. Then the last two rounds I have been on one lubion and cyclogest pessary and the bleed would start on day 10/11. I have asked for prontogest for my 6th ivf cycle/round. In total 5 BFN and one chemical.

I have my post endometrial biopsy teams meeting with Dr Brosnen tonight, for my deft results. From what people on this forum have said (post chat with Dr Brosnen) and my fertility consultant an ERA is not appropriate. She has advised me to start taking vaginal probiotics.

Second to last round I had an intralipid pre transfer and prednisolone (high NK cells). Last round I was on clexane and prednisolone.

The time I got a chemical I had acupuncture pre transfer. I felt very relaxed too which may of resulted to my faint positive.

Anything I can do to with stop the bleed during tww?

I will be trying acupuncture again with intralipids, clexane and prednisolone. Also vaginal pessaries taken before the next round. Anything else?

You are doing everything that you should be doing .The bleeding may be caused by the medications and this in turn increases the blood flow then using pessaries can irritate and cause more spotting . Maybe discuss your worries with your clinic for some reassurance would be an idea

Thank you Ja-fnuk your words are very reassuring x The bleed itself starts as brown spotting then next day full bright red flow. I now get anxious between days 8-10 in the tww. I’ve mentioned it to the consultant and I’ve suggested increasing my progesterone (prontogest). Which she has agreed to… so I guess let’s wait and see. I’m hoping to have embryos to freeze this round xx

I have similar issues and also wonder about adding PIO. Did professor Brosens have an opinion?

Apparently, all my test results came back normal. My progesterone was normal too, so could be my age and quality if eggs. And he doesn’t suggest prednisolone (less drugs he said). As my NK cells are within normal range. That I should carry on with normal ICSI procedure, now to await my husbands sperm results…

This has been my experience-

Cyclogest on its own - bled from Day 6 on 2ww (no implantation)

Cyclogest and lubion - bled from Day 6 on 2 ww (no implantation)

Cyclogest and Prontogest (implantation but no live birth - nothing to do with medications)

Cyclogest and Prontogest - didn't bleed early (no implantation)

So in my experience, prontogest did make a difference to not bleeding early in 2ww even when the cycle did not result in pregnancy

Have you tried asking if you can be put on progesterone injections? My progesterone needed to be increased to 40 post transfer so my FS increased my progesterone dosage by adding injections. I also had progesterone pessaries. I had bleeding on my last transfer for 2 weeks and then it stopped after that. This was the only successful BFP transfer after doing 5 transfers.

Yes the consultant asked if I can find someone that provides prontogest then I can have it in my next round. As the lubion and progesterone pessary alone never seem enough. Now I’ve looked at stork and fertility2u but they require a prescription upfront before they can provide a price. I get my other drugs from the hospital pharmacy, but I’ve had no luck getting through to them via phone. It’s an hours drive from home. So I’m going to keep trying to call them.
