Recommendations for places blood tests

I am using a clinic in Spain, but they now require a whole host of blood tests repeating that I had done initially with them last year in Spain. If I can’t get them done in the UK I’ll need to cancel the cycle which I really don’t want to do, or go over to Spain for longer to get them done before transfer. Looking for places I can get them done in the UK. I am based East Midlands.

if London is an option there is the drs lab which should be able to do them

i did think it might be a stretch but i know people who hace travelled from wales to there to get them done so thought it worth a mention anyways - have you tried medichecks ? GP ?

Not heard of medichecks. My GP are refusing as I’m doing private IVF so saying not covered on NHS…

Hey lovely. What bloods are they? I agree with previous poster - depending on the bloods needed, Medichecks could be an option. With some bloods you do a finger prick blood test at home and post the bloods off, usually back to you within 3- 5 days depending on blood being taken. X

Hmm Medichecks may be an option, not sure if they are all available on there but couldn't hurt to look and check

I am tempted to just fly to Spain. I’ve already paid for and used prostap and I’m worried about not getting results in time or all results my clinic want! Can’t believe I’m 2 days out for dates of transfer! X

It sounds like you have a gut feeling about what to do and this can often be the best way to make the decision. The timing is extremely frustrating though!

Yes you are probably right!! Extra stress on top isn’t what I need!!!! Going to contact clinic and see if there’s anything I can do but looks like an extended trip to Spain!!! X

my gp was the same. Refused to help. Not sure if it’s possible but we went to Spain just for a few days got them all done then home. It was not much more expensive than having them all done here xxx

So frustrating isn’t it!! They are taking my blood anyway so I just need a few extras tests on it. So frustrating they run out 14th and transfer 16th too…. I could go early and stay but got animals to think about x

My GP made damn sure I was rejected for a Individual Funding Request because she was reluctant to apply on my behalf. She refused to send me a draft of my application.

As soon as I told her I was going private, she told me to send her a list of test. I was able to do most of my blood tests on the NHS. Sadly NHS won't pay for a Hycosy scan (£500), AMH blood test (£100) and Karotype blood test (£300). God help me.

I got zero blood tests or anything on the nhs. The wrote me a letter pretty much saying because I had gone private they couldn’t/wouldn’t help xxx

I’ve been told it’s pretty much up to the doctors x

I needed an appointment with an Obstetrician for my donor egg treatment, she sent the referral to the hospital but it was rejected due to my age (44). 😭😭😭.

I can’t get anything on NHS with using a private clinic. So frustrating. Hope you get sorted. Are you using a private clinic in the uk? Will they not do the tests? X

I'm using a private clinic in Spain. My Consultant in the UK has a partnership with an hospital in Barcelona. I'm 44. My CCG fund fertility investigations & treatment for women under 43. Donor egg is cheaper in Spain. £6k in Spain compared to £11k in the UK. I will speak to my consultant on Tuesday to ask if he can refer me for the Hycosy scan under the NHS. No harm in asking. The NHS is mean to women over 44 struggling to conceive.

My clinic is also in Spain. Alicante. I’m on the donor refund guarantee program. I’m 47. I had one round on NHS that had to be completed before my 43rd birthday.

I’ve been told it’s up to the doctor. I knew they wouldn’t do other tests.
