Clinic and Blood Tests

I am feeling a bit confused right now. Everybody on here who has been fortunate enough to get a BFP seems to be booked into their clinics to have their bloods done to monitor their HCG levels to see how the pregnancy is progressing. This is my second cycle with my clinic and again this time they have not done that and I would prefer to have the reassurance. I have a early scan on March 11th which will be my 7th week but this still seems like a lifetime away.

Hey, congratulations! Not all clinics do bloods, think it varies. I’ve used 2 clinics at the first one they did a blood test to confirm whether or not I was pregnant. I wasn’t so I only had the one, I don’t think they would then have repeated though. The 2nd clinic just used a pregnancy test and like you I waited for a scan. It’s a tough wait but try not to be too anxious (easier said than done I know!). Could you ask your clinic or GP to do blood tests? xx

Yeah my husband just suggested asking my GP for blood tests. I’m away for his birthday at the moment so I’ll have a think for when I’m back home ☺️ xx

My sister used the digital tests to see if they moved from 1-2 weeks to 2-3 weeks etc. She got a scan at 5 weeks at the early pregnancy unit cos she had some spotting. You could try the tests and ask your gp to do bloods? I hope you are having a lovely time away and being nice and relaxed. Xxx

Awwww thank you lovely. Yes I did one clearblue digital which said 1-2 weeks I had conceived then another a week later and it said 2-3 weeks I had conceived. I did another test today just to make sure the lines were still there and there was no fading 🤞🏻 a week and a half to go for my 7week scan.xx

If I go off the first day of my last period then I am 5 weeks and 3 days today. My appetite has gone the last week and a half. I fancy anything to eat. The last couple of days I have noticed I don’t feel like myself and slightly nauseous on and off throughout the day but it does quite quickly. Today though I haven’t felt well or had no energy. Today’s been the worse day so far. I am excited for my scan I have everything crossed for it 🤞🏻 I hope you are doing ok?!!xxx ❤️

Oooh you’ll need to let me know how your scan goes. Just you make sure you listen to your body and rest if you are tired. You are growing a wee baby!! Be kind to yourself.

I’m doing ok thanks. I have so much to be thankful for that I can’t stay down for too long. I’m a very lucky girl in many ways and that’s what I need to focus on. Thank you for asking xxxx

Thats why then, i think in america its standard practice whereas here they just give us a stick to pee on xx

Congrats! My clinic don’t do blood tests at all, you do a home pregnancy test and then it’s a viability scan at 7 weeks I think it’s quite normal

I decided not to do any extra bloods, it inevitably just ends up with worry if they aren’t exactly as you expect and you can’t impact the outcome anyway. I am sure all will be fine! Congrats again xx

Thank you for putting my mind at ease. I just read the same thing online too, that clinics use the viability scan at 7 weeks which is what I’m having rather than blood tests. Your right we don’t need extra stress on top with level results. Thank you for your message ☺️ hope you are ok x x

My clinic did bloods only because my urine tests were very unclear (extremely faint lines a few days apart) and on first blood test discovered there was an HCG issue, therefore booked me for repeat blood tests. If the urine test had been clear positive or negative they wouldn't have done bloods x

I didn’t. I just had to wait for an 8 week scan which was torture x
