Constipation during stimulation

Probably a bit tmi but does anyone else get constipated during ivf stimulation? Or is this likely an entirely separate issue?

Hi! That's definitely the medication they use for the stimulation cycle, drink plenty of water and increase your fibre but I found I had to take laxatives it was that bad

Thanks for replying! I googled and nothing said anything about constipation. I have increased my water intake and fibre so hopefully something happens soon 😂

Yes hopefully it does, the constipation is a nightmare and it doesn't end if you fall pregnant because I'm currently 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant and I'm extremely constipated having to take a mild laxative called lactulose which is very safe but effective

Congratulations on your pregnancy. How many cycles did you do? I am on my first so everything is new to me!

Thank you so much, this was my 4th cycle, my third cycle was successful but I had a silent miscarriage I had abnormal low hcg levels and this time I have really good hcg levels so it's looking good, it's possible I might have twins in there but I will find out next Tuesday, I wish you all the best

yes I’ve been feeling that too this time on gonal f and menopur. Lots of water has helped me though 🤗 hope you feel better soon xx

Definitely not separate for me and they told me it would happen, it's actually still happening again now that I'm taking oestrogen to prep for frozen transfer. They recommended a mild laxative - lactulose which really helped and reduced lots of discomfort i think constipation really exacerbated everything unfortunately. You can just get it from the shops 😊

I haven't had this myself, but do experience less hunger and a bit of a funny tummy sometimes. Imagine it's def the meds!

Hi 👋 Yeah it's common and my clinic recommends fibergel and laxatives to help things along. It does nothing to help the heavy feeling from stims when you can't go to the loo!
