Egg Donor babies

Hi

We have our initial consultation booked with our clinic in early Jan. Very excited as we feel this is our route to having our 2nd baby and longed for sibling of our DD who was conceived in round 2 of 5 IVF cycles.

We are using Beacon CARE Fertility in Dublin (we are based in Belfast) and wondered if anybody had any positive stories about them that they could PM me.

Keen to know if there are many donors to choose from (we will use frozen from the bank)?

Did you transfer 1 or 2?

Was it a success first time around? We have 1 shot and thats it. (we cant fund more than 1 go).

Thanks

just wanted to wish you luck 🍀

I just posted, we are using donor embryos in Jan - terrified it won’t work! We are also trying for a sibling xxx

How many are you transferring?

I’m so nervous about this too. xx

Only one at a time, too worried about complications with twins

I know… but as I only have 1 shot, I’m worried a single won’t stick & that’s it. It’s so hard.

If it was my last go I might risk it xxx

Aww wishing you all the sticky luck!

We used DE after failure to get any of OE. We had two failed single transfers and then we decided the third was our last attempt so we transferred two, which ended up in our twins 🥰

hi lovely! We went for donor ivf using CARE in Nottingham. We had a failed ivf cycle with TFP nurture 1 mc and 1 failed implantation using my own eggs. I am 40 in February so age was very much part of our decision to move to CARE and use donor.

The selection process was strange, felt a little like shopping. However the process was easy and CARE were on hand all the way. Once we gained access to the database we had chosen our donor within 48 hours. There was not an extensive list by the time you filter down to the characteristics you want. You can only reserve 1 at a time so if there are 2 and you select 1 then decide to go back and look at the 2nd one it may be gone! Once we had selected our donor we had a match confirmation within 12 hours. We picked a standard set of eggs which is anything from 6-8 eggs guaranteed. You can pay extra for large set of 9-12 which for us was an extra £2000. We picked standard set. When our eggs arrived at Nottingham 2 weeks later they called to say we had 9 ☺️. Once eggs were thawed and fertilised we had 1 grade 1 blast and 2 grade 2 blasts. We transferred 1 grade 1 and froze the remaining 2. We are currently 11 weeks pregnant and have seen the baby with heartbeat 3 times now. The hardest choice but the best one we made. Our ultimate goal was for a family, being donor egg feels no different to me. Hope this helps, good luck on your journey xx

Thank you so much. It’s lovely to hear about the same clinic brand. I have found our clinic excellent it was my eggs that let us down.

That’s great to know about the numbers in the sets. Did you do the PGA testing or skip it due to donor age? We have tested in the past & got 2 ‘perfect’ embies…. 1 is our daughter, the other I MC at 6 weeks so I’m not convinced by it tbh.

It sounds like the process is fast which is what we want. I had my daughter right before my 40th & am 42 now, so I need to get moving xx

Ps. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Enjoy every minute xx

No problem at all! We didn’t opt for the testing, read mixed things on it plus our donor was young so made our decision easier :-) hope your consultation goes amazingly.

Thank you ☺️ I am ready for 12 weeks to come now…it’s been a journey xx

Im sure...but still enjoy it. I found every appointment with my daughter so utterly nerve wrecking, but i really wish id tried to relax and enjoy a little more. Once you get your 12 week one though you will be able to enjoy it, and then the big 20 week one. Will you find out if its boy or girl? xx
