Hi everyone, I posted here a few days ago about being at a crossroads about our next steps after 8 cycles (5 transfers). We've now had our follow our with our Consultant at our clinic.
We've decided initially to go ahead with our final embryo on an Artificial FET in September, with no changes to protocol. We could have tried a Natural FET, but it was such a risk for cancellation when I really just want this batch of untested embryo's over and done with. They really can't give us a reason for this post transfer pain and don't think any other testing would give us any answers (I forgot to ask about Hysteroscopy) - they would have really hoped/were expecting better success than this.
They would be happy to do another fresh cycle (own eggs/sperm), but would maybe suggest testing the embryo's - not because they necessarily think a lot of the embryos were abnormal, but because they've never had a patient suffer so much pain both during transfers (mines are sedated now) and post transfer and discarding any abnormal embryos means I don't have to go through a FET cycle for ones I don't need too.
Unfortunately our clinic don't offer embryo testing for those who don't need genetic testing (health reasons) as we'd be NHS self-funded so we'd have to move clinics - I'd be gutted about that, I really like my Consultant and they've been with us from Cycle 2, so we've sort of bonded to them but they're keen for success as are we, so encouraged us to look elsewhere as well.
We discussed donor eggs/sperm or double donor and whilst we are really open to that, we know it's not our first preference but at 38 and 43, it feels like time is running out a bit for us.
No real point of this post other than a bit of a debrief for anyone interested
