Hi everyone, so I found out after the 2 week wait that it didn’t work. This is the second time with IVF. 1st cycle was nearly 2yrs ago under NHS which was awful, no care & second time around with a private clinic in South London (very friendly clinic & good pricing for IVF) but after 2 egg collections (collected 5) only 1 got to blastocyst but it failed. I’m 43, 44 this year so time is running out for me. It was only a grade 2Bb
I’ve read so many posts on here where people are doing 4/5 even 6 cycles & transfers but my question is, it’s so expensive financially and many people like me can’t afford cycle after cycle with clinics saying after 42, % drops to just 5% each cycle success rate which is very low. Any thoughts on if finance & funds are low like mine, is it best to just use donor eggs with husband sperm? Anyone my age had success with partner clinics for DE abroad in Spain, Cyprus or Greece, please kindly let me know as I’m really feeling down right now emotionally & financially drained. Thank you & much appreciated. Do people use up all savings or get loans? 🙏

Hello, I’m sorry to hear your disappointing news I’m a similar age (42) and on our 6th round!! We’ve yet to have complete success. We brought a multi package deal to help with finance. I’m also in South London x
hello Lamagarden, sorry to hear your news too. Must be really intense, 6th round - do you mean 6 cycles or 6 embryo transfers? I know we can’t mention clinic names. Can you PM me your clinics name if OK? Would you consider DE down the line or not considered it? I wish you well & it happens for you 🙏 how does one stay positive as it’s emotionally & financially draining
It’s our 6th cycle and our 5th transfer, on one cycle we had nothing to transfer I will PM you. DE is a very difficult idea for my partner but we may get to the point where we have to seriously consider it, we’re not there yet. Thank you for your good wishes, it is incredibly hard to stay positive, it’s such a hard and heart breaking process xx
I’m so sorry it didn’t work, I’m 42 and tried 3 rounds with my own eggs trying for a sibling and going to have one last one before moving to donor (which for me will luckily be my wife’s eggs as in a same sex marriage). The costs are enormous but having seen how great it is if it works then I’ve made peace with pilling so much cash into this. We either save (used up most of our savings on first child!)or put it on a 0% credit card and pay it off before the interest hits but with 3 fresh cycles in the past year and a half it can really add up and we have had to make sacrifices (especially for this up coming round) we looked at clinics abroad and the one in Barcelona Spain most appealed to us and was cheaper than here but unfortunately won’t take our donor as he is an open donor so we didn’t go ahead there but I would look into that one if exploring abroad. Take care of yourself for now though you’ve gone through a lot xx 💜
