Transfer of a compacted embryo that didn’t make it to blastocyst?

So despite all the positive info from the clinic thing haven’t turned out as expected (the consultant said I’d probably get pregnant naturally before starting IVF, after 9 years really?!) Only got 1 egg from collection, which luckily it fertilised.

On day 5 it was a day behind and hadn’t made it to blastocyst stage, but was a compacted embryo. They said it still meet the minimum criteria to transfer so they did. I asked if that this meant it has stopped growing and was told more than likely and there is very little chance of it being successful.

Anyone else had this? Haven’t found anything on google, other than most clinics wait until day 6 to see which way it goes, but this is normally to freeze.

I have 3 month old twin boys from my double transfer of 2 morulas (fresh day 5 transfer). They can be successful so good luck 🍀☺️❤️

Aw congratulations! Thank you for sharing your positive story. Feel a little bit more hopeful now 😊

Hi, I didn’t know whether to post or not because I don’t have a positive experience of this - but like you, I googled this a lot and was frustrated that I could hardly find any experiences of it - good or bad. But this happened to me twice. One egg collection I only got a morula and they transferred it because it was ‘worth a try’ - that was BFN. Second egg collection I got a morula and a low quality blastocyst. They transferred them both - BFN. I ended up then going to donor eggs and I’m pregnant now ☺️ That’s just my experience though- good luck to you x

Congratulations on getting your BFP, hope all goes well. Thanks for sharing. Really struggling with the 2WW although I’m realist, it’s doing my head in wondering that there is the slightest chance and just angry/upset at the clinic not waiting the extra day for egg collection and transfer x

I’ve been there. I’m sure you will get there - it’s a tough journey x

I was in the same position as you just over a month ago. We were told our embryo was not quite a blastocyst and were given about a 5 % chance of it being successful. We decided with the help of our embryologist that we would transfer it at day five rather than waiting to day six in the hope that it had a better chance being back in me. To our complete surprise we had a positive pregnancy and am now 8 weeks and we saw the heartbeat last week. We still have a long way to go but hopefully that will give you a little bit of hope, I was googling for the same answers as you were.

❤️ congratulations, hope it goes well. Thank you, feel a bit more reassured that it’s normal practice and there is a greater chance at a BFP than having no embryo to transfer at all.
