Hi everyone I will be 6dp5dt on Sunday, am I doing any wrong in testing then? I’ve seen so many people getting clear test results on this day. It’s my first round of IVF and go back to the office on Monday I’ve been wfh so I just want to know if I am before I start work on Monday morning. Please feel free to tell me off if this is far to early? Thanks

Hey, I totally understand why you'd want to test before going back to work. You'd be running the risk that no matter what the result, it could be inaccurate. If it's positive, it could be that the trigger injection has caused a false positive. If it's negative, it could be that your HCG level isn't high enough yet. The two weeks before test day is looooong but I'd try to hold out if you can.

I honestly wouldn't test. It just causes soooo much stress: was it too early, maybe false positive etc. Talking from experience i sis test early first time abd spent a small fortune on a variety of tests and caused nothing but stress!

it’s your body and you can test whenever you want and feel comfortable with and no one should ‘tell you off’ I hate seeing people tell others ‘oh you shouldn’t have tested’! The clinics all give different test days and there is no right day to test except what’s right for you 🤗 there are no prizes for ‘waiting’ and it doesn’t change the outcome

I test about day 6 -8 and it’s mostly been accurate for me however you do need to consider that

A) it can change if negative it defo has time to change and did for my friend very recently but for me it never has and it helped me to process the likely outcome with a bit of hope still in there although I know that others like to wait for certainty

B) it can change if positive I have had 3 chemical pregnancies where the embryo implanted but didn’t progress past 5 and 6 weeks both of these would have showed if I tested later too so testing early actually helped me as I could see lines weren’t getting darker

C) if it’s a fresh cycle depending on when and how much trigger you had there’s a chance that early testing with a positive line can still be the trigger shot HCG

Defo don’t test with anything other than a first response early response it’s too early for a lot of others to pick anything up and least likely to have confusing evap lines. Both of which could cause you unnecessary heartache!

Best of luck lovely 🤗💜

Ps this wee summary of the embryo journey helps me think of what’s going on in there and when I want to test:

Day 1: The blastocyst begins to hatch out of its shell.

Day 2: The blastocyst continues to hatch out of its shell and begins to attach itself to the uterus.

Day 3: The blastocyst attaches deeper into the uterine lining, beginning implantation.

Day 4: Implantation continues.

Day 5: Implantation is complete. Cells that eventually become the placenta and fetus have begun to develop.

Day 6: Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), the hormone that signals a developing pregnancy, starts to enter the blood stream.

Days 7 and 8: Fetal development continues and hCG continues to be secreted.

Day 9: Levels of hCG are now high enough in maternal blood to detect a pregnancy using a blood test.

100% agree with Twiglet2 . I've done testing at 5dp5dt twice and had positives that carried on beyond OTD but sadly they turned out not to have been viable from early on so early testing didn't make any difference. Then for some mad reason on my first FET I tested at 3dp5dt and got a BFP and that's my daughter. Most recently I've tested out the trigger as I just wanted to know early on what was happening and did it implant etc. It also helped me to know that I'd had implantation and if they failed, when, as I figured it may help the doctors work out what's going on and if there's anything that can be done. *But* it can quickly become an obsession if you then want to test again and you can worry yourself sick comparing lines. It's your decision and ultimately whenever you test it doesn't change the outcome. Best of luck though whatever you decide!

6 days is on the early side. If you do decide to test, make sure to use a First Response Test as it is a few times more sensitive than the ones you are given by the clinics or indeed the Clear Blue test. Good luck!

did you have a trigger? I have got positives after a trigger on day 6 which got my hopes up unnecessarily x

I would hold out - I know it’s super hard but there is a high chance of an incorrect result when you test early.
