Ectopic and 2 failed IVF

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting. I haven't seen many posts that are similar to my story, so I thought I'd share in the hope of helping someone out there. In Dec 2020 I discovered I was pregnant, just before my 37 birthday. At 6 weeks it was discovered it was ectopic and I had a fallopian tube removed.

Following this I had 2 rounds of IVF and also insisted on having a HyCoSy to check the other tube was OK. It was, thankfully.

In the first round of IVF we got 2 eggs, but they unfortunately didn't fertilise. We weren't given any explanation and were gutted with the outcome.

We tried again 6 months later, and this time there were no eggs at all. We were devastated.

After this I wanted to stay positive and productive. I started doing acupuncture for a few months until my cucle was regular and I knew I was ovulating again. I had a progesterone test to check this.

I also had my AMH checked again and it had gone from 11 to 6. I did 6 months of DHEA and Ubiquinol, which got it back up to 11.

In Jan this year we went to a private consultant, who gave me Clomid, which I'm currently trying, but no luck yet.

A couple of weeks ago we went on the register for DE IVF, something a year ago I wouldn't have considered, but after lots of talking about our options, we decided this was what we wanted to try.

I'm now 39 and have been trying for 4 years, but I'm not losing hope.

I hope this helps someone and if you have any questions, please ask!

Good luck to everyone going through their own fertility journey.

just wanted to wish you the very best of luck. We’re all going through difficult journeys, and although we all might have different obstacles to overcome the despair and the hope are all the same. Sending love.

Wishing you lots of luck. I am currently on my second cycle of clomid. Last month i did ovulate but we just didnt get pregnant. It's been a whirlwind few years with lots of setbacks. The last year they debated weather or not i should proceed with clomid. I did get pregnant in december 22 , as I just turned 37 . It's the first time we've ever got pregnant in the 18 years of trying. It's so hard and everyday I just have to keep reminding myself to keep going

Do keep going! I still have to keep reminding myself I'm still (relatively) young and plenty of women are getting pregnant into their 40s. Sometimes I wonder if taking a break would help, time to reset. It's hard to get into that mindset when the body clock is ticking though. Have you tried IVF? Sending you lots of positive thoughts!

hi, I had very low amh (much lower than yours) and did 4 rounds of ivf before I conceived my son at age 35. I then did 5 more rounds to have a sibling. We moved on to modified natural ivf as I had such a low reserve and some rounds I got no eggs and some 1 or 2. On the 5th round I got pregnant but it was ectopic so I had tube removed. I then moved to a clinic in Greece who did a hysteroscopy. I then got pregnant naturally with my daughter the next month. She has just turned 1.

Perhaps you could try having some consultations with other clinics to see what their thoughts are? DM me if you want the name of the clinic I used in Greece.

All the best x

I was told my chances of getting pregnant through IVF again was about 5%. That's interesting about the hysteroscopy. Yes, please send me the details. Is it possible to get it done in the UK?.

I have done clomid. I started it in 2020. I didn't ovulate at all so we did 2 years of clomid. The first month failed and I still didn't ovulate so my dose was increased for the second month which did see me ovulate. We did 3 full rounds of clomid and although we did fall pregnant on the last month of the 2nd round we had an early miscarriage. I was swapped to Letrazole which I took for the first month in September 2022 couldn't get an ultrasound appointment to check if the medication worked but we are expecting 29th June 2023. Don't give up and if you find clomid isn't helping or working look into Letrazole or if you want to talk more.
