I’ve been prescribed it since my first transfer for similar reasons. Mine was too high to transfer but was given levothyroxine and that’s sorted it out quickly. It takes effect very quickly so shouldn’t be a problem for your transfer.
I have had no side effects except the first day I took it I was a bit dizzy. It is a minor pain as you have to have it an hour before coffee and food on an empty tum. You also can’t take it with any other meds or it doesn’t work.
Weirdly I had found it easier to maintain my weight while on it (I have pcos and put on weight looking at bread) and the tablets are very small and easy to take.
Hello. I have also been on Levothyroxine 25mcgr since starting my fertility treatment, it brings the levels down very quickly. Please make sure you don't take alpha lipoic acid while on Levothyroxine as this could bring your levels back up. Good luck for your transfer! x
I know just how you feel, I had my modified natural transfer pushed back by a month because of a cyst as well, it was pretty difficult to get myself back into the right frame of mind after the crushing disappointment. I was put on Norethisterone in the interim to avoid further cyst formation and I am pleased to say the cyst was gone at my baseline scan the next month. You would be taking the Levothyroxine at least until the end of the first trimester so it will keep working its magic. All the best for next month and that you will get the green light for transfer! xx
It’s hard to get your head into it again your right. Just about got myself ready then it’s cancelled. I even went for a scan last month just to check all was ok 🫣.
Hi. I’m on my first IVF cycle, and was prescribed Levothyroxine after my first consultation. The consultant said my thyroid levels were fine, but they needed to be better for pregnancy. I’m in my stims phase now. I think I’ve been taking Levothyroxine for around 5 weeks now, and the clinic has said that my thyroid levels are great. No side effects at all. Am taking it alongside CO-Q10, Folate and DHEA. Good luck x
Bit frustrating….I received no instructions at all when I was prescribed the Levothyroxine. It was only when I started my stims last week that the nurse told me that I should take it on an empty stomach and not eat or drink for 30 mins afterwards. I’ve been gulping it down with Folate. I’ve got my egg collection on Monday (all being well), so will make sure I take the Levo properly for the next few days! x
Thanks so much. I’ve been really lucky and not had many side-effects from the stims, but am feeling a bit manic today 😵💫😵💫. Another scan tomorrow morning, and then I’ll see if they tell me to do the trigger shot tomorrow night - yikes! Am getting a but anxious about next week and waiting for news on fertilisation, how many make it to blast, etc. Guess I just need to keep everything crossed. Thanks again xx
Thank you, reassuring to know they can go down quickly.
I haven’t been able to speak to anyone about it. I had a call yesterday from the GP to advise of the blood test results.. straight away called the fertility clinc who said I needed medication.
Was in a bit of a panic.
Got there just before they closed to collect the prescription and off I toddled to the pharmacy 🫣.
I think I’ll leave it a few hours tomorrow before I eat or drink anything.
I have an under active thyroid and take 125 on the daily. My thyroid was monitored really closely during our rounds. When I had my last transfer it was around 1.5 and that was our successful one. The 25 should work pretty quickly. I got tested every month. Normally if there is a change in dose when not trying to conceive it’s 3 months
Thank you for your reply. I’m hoping for transfer from my next period. I’m already half way through this cycle so it’s good to know the 25mg will work quickly. I’ve booked a blood test in 4 weeks, hopefully it falls just before transfer.
