Levothyroxine/underactive thyroid IVF delay

Hi, have any of you been delayed because of your thyroid levels? This is my 2nd time! My levothyroxine was increased to 200 and now has to be decreased to 150! I was only just informed that I shouldn't be taking any other supplements with it as it can compromise the levo absorption.

Do any of you take your levo at night? I take mine in the morning but thinking it might be better changing it. Have your Doctors made any recommendations for it? I know it's for the best but I'm getting so frustrated at this stage. Xx

I did but I was only on a dose of 50 as I still am now. My underactive thyroid was mild but very frustrating as it came out of the blue and actually made my prolactin really high which was the bigger concern. Turned out it was actually my thyroid causing issues. I think I was almost 3-4 months before I got to a normal level which was very annoying as it delayed everything and I didnt even get the benefits of my surgery because of this! Hope you get it sorted out soon! Oh nearly forgot and I take mine in the morning with a glass of water an hour before food as instructed by GP.xx

Hi Cinderella, hope you don't mind me asking but have you ever had your prolactin level checked since being on levo? The clinic just said my levels would naturally come down alongside my thyroid levels and have only ever rechecked my thyroid levels. My prolactin was high too x

I had mine checked and right enough they did come down in tandem with my thyroid. It came down from 1311 to 290. My thyroid came down from 4.69 to 1.58. My clinic wanted to be sure though as Ive a few failures under my belt now so I think it was more for their peace of mind that everything was good before I had another go.xx

That's reassuring to know thank you! Just had results of our alloimmune tests levels are too low, nothing is ever straightforward or easy is it, all the best to you x

Aww rubbish, hopefully they have a plan to sort it all out! Nope that's generally what Im finding...nothing straight forward! Always seems to be something else creeping in to complicate it!xx

Will have to wait until Thursday to see, we have a consultation with the immunologist, so scared as don't know what this means for our remaining embryos.

Would love to know how you get on, keep us posted! Hope the appointment goes well and isnt as bad as you're thinking. We didn get much back from ours apart from I was at risk of clotting and got clexane this cycle and we had slightly raised NK cells and our Dr opted for Intrapilids.xx

We have low alloimmune antibodies, hence the early miscarriage. wish I fully understood the repurcussions to all of this, hopefully will know more on Thursday. Your clinic seem to be very proactive like mine, I hope they find a solution for you x

My thyroid levels were just over threshold for ivf so on a low dose of 25, I also had to wait why my levels came down, very frustrating! Can I ask you what supplements you were advised not to take with the levo? I always take my tablet in the morning an hour before food but have heard from some people who absorb it better by taking it at night. All very frustrating!

All the very best to you x

I had my first round of ivf and it wasn’t successful so they put my dose up checked my levels and then I went ahead with second cycle which was successful 💗 hope yours is sorted for you soon x

It makes no sense to me why your dosage would be reduced? My endo specialist said I could try to take mine at night for absorption but my memory is so lousy I kept forgetting and ended up taking it in the early hours or not at all. You must be sub clinical with low anti bodies? My fertility specialist was more interested in my prolactin levels and that they were reducing than the tsh as they said one would reduce the other but they only ever repeated the tsh and t4 tests so I have no idea of my prolactin levels ever actually came back down. Tsh did go down to a lower level and this time I DID stay pregnant. We couldnt afford nk cell testing which we wanted as its autoimmune and we’re worried about lupus etc. Since diagnosis I was told up take vb12 which I buy in 1000mcg dose and silenium to aid absorption. I was told to stop taking the zinc supplement which I had been on years. Very conflicting!! And different depending on who you see, as my endo and fertility consultant had very different ideas 😩 xxx
