Do antidepressants affect fertility? Feeling low

Hey,I wondered what peoples thoughts were on antidepressants, and weather they affect fertility. The research online says they don't but them once website said they do. I'd hate to jeopardise getting pregnant naturally. I've been feeling so low since my last failed transfere. Kind of like I don't know what to do with my life anymore. I'm ok when I'm at work. But crying all day when I'm at home. Sorry for the down messege xxxx

Hi Ivfhopeful some do and some don’t, so best to check before any treatment starts. Remember if you need medication to gethrough a particularly low time, them perhaps best to get yourself treated before continuing or be switched to an antidepressant that is fertility friendly. Good luck. Di

I was prescribed sertraline throughout most of my treatment (stim cycle and FETs) and my clinic was fine with this xx

Thankyou @Solly, I have thought about sertriline. May I ask if you managed to concieve? (Obviously I know its many factors) and don't worry if you don't want to say. Thankyou for this im going to talk to my dr, think its time! Xx

No worries. Yes I did conceive on my 3rd FET and had a successful pregnancy, we now have a toddler from that round. That was actually the first transfer after starting it! I did stop the sertraline soon after we found out (was on a v high dose so weaned off by 10 weeks). I’ve more recently conceived naturally on it and have continued to take it through the whole pregnancy - discussed coming off it but my dr was dead against that and said a low dose won’t be harmful. Tbh we also conceived twice with more IVF while on it but lost both, but nothing to do with the medication.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this, it’s so difficult to maintain good (or even adequate) mental health during infertility, or at least it has been for me. Take care of yourself, my clinic wasn’t at all concerned about me being on anti depressants and said it’s very common for patients to need medication like that during treatment as it’s such a shitty time. Xx
